Our church's Youth Group for the last few years has had some former Alabama players come play touch football and speak for our 'kickoff' for the new school year. (get it-- kickoff,football
)
I teach JR High SS and against my better judgement I agreed to play. Glad I did.Bobby Humphrey, Corey Reamer, Chris Rodgers and Antonio Langham participated (if I misspelled any player's name I apologize, zero disrespect intended.) Great guys and we all had a lot of fun. Now, Sunday afternoon wasn't 100 degrees like some days in July were, but it was pretty hot and humid and for these guys to devote their afternoon was appreciated.
During supper Humphrey did most of the talking (and good natured ragging on Rodgers and Langham
) testimonials (and yes, he acknowledged some bad judgement in the past), lifting, encouraging and inspiring the kids. They loved it and the players couldn't have been more friendly and patient signing autographs on anything you can think of.
No doubt other SEC players in other cities do similar things (and all NCAA teams/players) but I wanted to credit these Alabama guys since this was actually something I participated in.

Antonio Langham is an outstanding guy. Glad you got to meet some of the better ambassadors of UA.

He really is. But even as an old man ( I was joking with Humphrey we needed a 'senior's game next year
But there he was -- trying as hard as he could to throw a football to some 12 yr old girl without breaking her nose.

My apologies. Still, Langham had a remarkable career at Alabama.

Except for the damned napkin signing thing.

Langham was one of my favorite non-LSU players as a kid.

In a three game stretch in 92, Langham had three touchdowns.
He had a blocked punt and recovery for a touchdown against MSU (that was a close game).
He opened up the scoring against Auburn with a pick six.
And he scored the go ahead touchdown against Florida in the SECCG.
Quite a nice run there.

Antonio Langham was the original Honey Badger.

Antonio Langham was the player in the 1992 inaugural SEC championship game intercepted a Florida pass to save the game for Alabama and thus saved the SEC championship game.
