HD TVs and Espn showing every Gator game probably have a direct impact on selling out every game. UF had a great streak of sellouts.

BTW those shitty seats are the same height as the Champion's Club.

Who cares what 50% of the threads are about on this board? There's 10 UF fans on here. I rarely post on the SECR anymore, so may as well be 9. Every fan base has bandwagon fans, but there's always a core of fans. UF has a strong core of fans, and that game will be sold out, I bet. It's fricking BG though, so if it's not, who gives a shite. I don't see why you're taking this so seriously?

A) fans that change allegiances aren't really fans
B) I know lots of folks in FL but have never come across someone that was a FSU and became a UF fan because UF was winning. People say this a lot but I have never seen it. Does it happen? Sure. But it's not the epidemic you portray it to be.

Why so dramatic? It's one game. Against BG. On Labor Day weekend.

You are kidding me with the UG/UF game comments right? Please tell me you are kidding. If not, how long did it take you to count the fans so you could tell there were more UG fans than UF fans. You should have been drinking beer enjoying the pre-party.

Simply not true. I was in WBS last year, sitting in the top three rows and the ole lady I watched the game with nobody within 10 feet to the left or right. In 2009 I bought tickets online the week of the game. At the AU game last season the place was packed out but when I was there in 1999 there were empty seats everywhere. So there are instances of less than capacity crowds at other places as well. That said, our fanbase was damn loyal for many years. Seems like we picked up a lot of bandwagon Tebow type fans and some started to expect to much. It's an embarrassment to not sellout after doing it for 20 some consecutive years. I doubt it will ever be back regardless of record. Many small changes have ruined the gameday atmosphere in Gainesville.

Good for noon games, serve food/NA drinks and AC for the old folks. One of the best Arnie Palmers I have ever had.

obviously this matters enough to yall because i have found a way to bring out all 10 gators who post on this site so i'd say it warranted some discussion. i'm not saying UF is in the poor house or that they will never have fans again i just think this is another example of why UF is in fact a bandwagon fan base and if you really look at the league's fans, attendance, and loyalties UF would not be at the top unless they are back to mid 90/2000s form. without it UF has a mediocre fan base IMO

Well, I guess when it all boils down, I would rather have a Championship driven football program and a mediocre fanbase, then the worlds greatest fanbase with a mediocre football program.

Not saying that is what UGA is, but just how I generally feel about UF.

OK. I've got you down as thinking UF has bandwagon fanbase. This is terrible news but it is what it is.

Let me see if I have this down.

1) UF sucks
2) UF fans suck
3) UF has fans that were FSU fans and now they are probably FSU fans again. Man, the sporting good stores must love this.
4) We didn't sellout the BG game so we suck
5) 50.1% of FL/UG game is made up of UG fans showing that UF sucks
6) Drama build up doesn't suck
7) commercial breaks suck
8) Boom can't coach
9) We don't have an offense and Pease wasn't the real OC at Boise.
10) UG is awesome in every way making Bobo awesome by default.

Good?

Before last season UF had a top 5 streak of consecutive sellouts. So DGD's entire premise is wrong.

I don't buy this. UF had the 4th longest sellout streak in the nation (and longest in the SEC) until last year when thousand of tickets were made available at the last second. That streak started in 1979, there were plenty of years in there the team was not at 90 or 00's level.

This happens every single year. All of the tickets I have seen offered were the tickets returned by Bowling Green. These are always made available, usually a couple weeks before the game starts. If UF doesn't sell them all out, I don't think it is really that big of a deal and doesn't really indicate anything, maybe people just don't want to drive up to see us play Bowling Green when the game is on ESPN.

I do think Foley's strategy of scheduling nothing but dreck at home to open the season is finally starting to show its downside. People will buy tickets to watch the home team crucify East Podunk Tech if the home team is championship caliber. They're not going to be taken advantage of by the athletic department when the team is less than stellar.

For the Gator apologists, stop. UF is notorious (and, rightly so) for being absolutely gutless in its OOC scheduling.

And Bama has been what exactly? You want to compare OOC schedules since 2000?

Florida has played a BCS opponent every year (FSU) and 4 times in the last 12 seasons has played 2 BCS opponents OOC [2002 (UM), 2003 (UM), 2008(UM), 2010 (USF)].

On the flip side Bama has played 2 BCS opponents once, 2010 when you scheduled Penn State and Duke. Bama also played 2 seasons where they played NO BCS teams (from 97-99 you didn't play any either).

Point being, Florida's OOC is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, especially relative to other SEC schedules.
