Question for Mizzou and Texas A&M

What were yalls views on the SEC prior to becoming a member? Was it an accepted idea that we were the no doubt best conference? If so why did y'all think we were so much better? And would y'all get really into our games and watch them?
btw: Welcome to the SEC. We have unreal inner rivalries but we always pull for each other in outa conference games, and we take pride in our teams

No the hell we don't.
I always pull for UF, UT, AU, Bama, and SC to lose their bowl games. I can't think of one good reason why I should want them to succeed.
UK, Vandy, Ole Miss, and MSU I will always pull for just because I feel bad. The rest I decide depending on the situation.

I've always been partial to southern football so I loved the conference and hoped we could become a part of it. Many old school Aggies wanted us in it in the early 90's too.

Yes. All those national championships and a great recent conference bowl record- the proof is in the pudding.

I tried to watch as much as I could. I have friends who went to LSU so I watched a fair amount of LSU football, and I'd try to catch the CBS game if it didn't interfere with ours or another Big 12 game that impacted us.

I always admired and preferred to watch SEC football. I would watch our games in Lawrence or Waco and wish we were playing in Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge instead...it's where we belong, regardless of our miserable record this decade.
Anybody who tells you that the SEC isn't the best conference is full of shite. In terms of getting in to the games...they now directly affect A&M, so yeah, I will certainly care more now.

Damn straight. LSU fan thinks we pull for each other because LSU has no rivals.
Dawg fans were loving it when we fell behind ECU 17-0 last year. And Gamecocks were all big Boise State fans -- despite the huge embarrassment it caused to the SEC.

I've been pissed that we didn't make the move back in 91 due to politicians from SWC schools blocking it.
SEC is and has been our. Rightful home since the demise of the SWC and anyone who sells you the idea that it's not a top conference is full of it.

I am stoked to have 2 new conference members.
Mizzou and aTm arent as bad off as SC was when we entered. If it wasnt for the SEC, SC would be battling the likes of Rutgers and USF in the lil east. But now, anything is possible.
Oh yea and thank you aTm for declining the invite in 92.

Don't listen to this guy. Some redneck from georgia. Being at the LSU OSU national title game, when 60,000 lsu fans were chanting SEC will put a chill down your back

I was always jealous as hell of the SEC's fantastic games--week in and week out. The SEC doesn't have any Baylors, Texas Techs, Iowa States, Kansas States, or other comparable snoozefest games. Sure, some teams hit cycles where they can't win to save their lives; but the schools are still home to great programs. Texas A&M has an obscene amount of loyalty surrounding it; so I respected that mirrored characteristic in SEC schools.
I've (and many other Ags) always felt like we were a better fit in the SEC than in any other conference. I was ill when the B12 formed. <shudder> So this feels like coming home.
Did I watch SEC games? Whenever I could. But you know how game weekends go ... once you hook up with your own football group for the weekend, you live, eat, and breathe your own home game. So we'd watch whatever game was on during tailgates.
Thanks for the welcome. There are tons o' haters out there ... but they'll get over it and come to love us in no time flat ;). We're damn glad to be here.

hahhhh. we have no rivals. we have no rivals. we have no rivals. we have no rivals. we just love our opponents and don't really want to wish them ill. no rivals. we love bama. we love auburn. we love old miss. we love arkansas. we love florida. life would sure be better if we had rivals. in fact, LSU is only a good program because we are the only big conference team in the state and because we have no rivals.

I'll allow it's somewhat different in bowl games. Even then, you were at an LSU game chanting SEC. It's not as if an LSU fan was wearing Arkansas colors and chanting SEC at the Cotton Bowl.
