Having been born and raised in Louisiana and lived many of my years in Alabama, I believe this article to be pretty spot on. I don't know of a place more obsessed with college football than Bama land. And I don't mean that in a disparaging way, no matter how much I loathe your football team and certain fans I can't help but run into. I actually happen to like quite a few Bama fans, as long as we don't talk football.

ROLL DEAD TIDE
Really though, that Alabama story is creepy. Who does that?

I then watched Suzan — clearly a bit frightened, but determined — reach into her pocket, pull out the plastic baggie holding John’s remains and empty its contents onto the field.
“Excuse me, but did you just pour someone’s ashes out onto the field?” I asked before Suzan and Ted could scurry away unnoticed.
“Yes, I did; it was my husband,” she replied nervously, her voice cracking slightly. “I was worried I’d get arrested doing this, but he loved Alabama football and wanted to have his ashes spread on the field here. I was worried I’d get arrested, but this was his dying wish, and I didn’t want him to haunt me for the rest of my life if I didn’t do it.”

CLM better not chew any more grass in T-town. Might be Suzy's dearly departed.

Seriously, wtf kind of "dying wish" is that? How can a game played by college kids be THAT damned important to you?
I love CFB, don't get me wrong... but that's a little retarded.

Whats the big deal. I fully intend for my ashes to be spread over Auburn. I mean that SERIOUSLY. Wife is to hire a small airplane and my ashes are to be sprinkled over JHS from Altitude.

What if the wind carries them away? At least her husband's ashes actually made it to the field.
Better think on that strategy a little more.

Only one person in this thread taking it seriously. If we keep those numbers down this thread has potential.
CLM eating grass over there now would be hilarious.

Not that some of this couldnt happen... i just think he took a lot of liberties. I also think he made up the first fan being a lawyer to welcome bolden...lol.

I can see it. The fan was probably screwing with him and the author didn't know it.

#1 While I would argue LSU fans are in the top 5 in the nation in terms of passion, maybe even as high as #2, it definitely doesn't dominate the community like it does with Alabama, so you would have to put them #1
#2 I intend to have my ashes spread on the parade grounds
