Bama looked the stronger team through four quarters, blew it on special teams.
What a joke. LSU outrushed Alabama in that game, total yardage was within about 50 yards of each other, and the so called special teams miscues were nothing but Bama trying FGs that were out of their kicker's range because they couldn't move the ball into FG range. You would seriously put this on the level with South Carolina getting four non-offensive TDs? Or Arkie getting a gift TD fumble return when Vandy was about to put the game away? Or Auburn scoring 14 points in the final minute against Utah St.?
Gumps gonna gump.

He's a Tennessee fan? See your clever little gumps gonna gump remark doesn't work here.

The better team won in your two examples.
When I think fluke, I think of an overmatched team playing at their absolute ceiling, and winning because the other team can't make a few routine field goals.

Not to mention the fact that most of Alabama's "yardage" resulted from starting inside their 10 yard line umpteen times from Wing pinning them deep, and they got to midfield or beyond a few times.
They only got inside the LSU 20 yard line ONE time however, and were promptly pushed out of the red zone on the very next play.
Also we made Alabama look like a pee wee team in OT. They went backwards about 12 yards, we scored a TD - yeah, Ford's left little toe was on the edge of the chalk - big fricking deal (just like Patrick Peterson "didn't" intercept Alabama in '09)
And we had a chance to score at least 2 other TD's - Shepard fell untouched after catching a pass inside the Bama 10, and Claiborne was on his way to the end zone on his INT but didn't cut back inside....

We were looking like the definitive number one team until you started running the option that we didn't prepare for.
Everyone not in Louisiana admits this now.
