As a true freshman in 2010, Mathieu played in all 13 games with one start.

He finished the season with 59 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions.

He was the Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2011 Cotton Bowl Classic after he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one sack and one pass breakup.

At the end of the 2011 regular season, Mathieu had 71 total tackles (54 solo and 17 assists), 1.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles (2 returned for a touchdown), and 2 interceptions.

On special teams, Mathieu had 26 punt returns for 420 yards, with 2 returned for a touchdown.

Just 25 games into his career, Mathieu has already shattered the LSU record and tied the Southeastern Conference record with 12 forced fumbles.

His six forced fumbles this season matched his own single-season record set last year (from LSUsports.net).

And that's just through his sophomore season.

If he comes back for an encore of his 2011 performance, I would be compelled to put him with Billy Cannon and Tommy Casanova among the greatest football players at LSU, possibly surpass.

Thug POS maybe, but his talents on the football field are nothing short of extraordinary.

And he just turned 20.

I absolutely hated Kevin Faulk when he was at LSU. He's had a nice pro career and I have a ton of respect for him now.

ALL OF THIS, somebody needs to just take his Twitter account away, or get Russel Sheppard to show him how to use it to come off as a good guy, not a complete fricking retard.

I've got a ton of love for the Honey Badger and there is no denying he's one of the most dynamic game changers in College Football, but for the love of god man please stop tweeting!!!!

As of right now,

PP7 is the better cover corner in college.

TM7 is the better football player in college.

Given the choice I would take Junior PP over TM any day of the week.

Both great players but I think PP was a NFL caliber corner in Purple and Gold.
