This isnt really a football issue so i dont see how they could give them the death penalty

You sound just like Joe Pa did right after Sandusky was arrested. How is this not a "Football" issue?

The first crime of rape of a child was committed by an active defensive co-ordinator of the Penn State football program in the Penn State Football facilities. It was decided by the Head Coach and the AD to cover up the incident.

The Head Coach and AD decided that instead of reporting the DC to the proper authorities, they decided to give him an extremely lucrative retirement package. A retirement package that included full use of all Penn State Football facilities, the ability to use the campus and facilities to promote and operate his "charity" that he used to exploit young boys.

Jerry Sandusky for a period of 12 years after he was retired by Penn State for having inappropriate relations with a 13 year old boy, used the Penn State Football Facilities to bring young boys to to execute his crimes. The Football facilities were the bait used by Sandusky to seduce these young boys. A Penn State graduate assistant found Sandusky in the act of anally raping a young boy in the Penn State Football Facilities. Again, Paterno, the AD, and VP of the University failed to report these actions.

These actions were not reported so that no shame would come to the Penn State Football Program and University. By reporting this incident it would hurt fundraising and hurt the image of the saintly Penn State Football Program.

How in the Hell is this not a Football issue?

If there has ever been a reason to bring down the hammer of justice to a football program this is it. We have idiots on this board giving SEC programs major grief for handing out cars, a few envelops, fixing a few grades, flying a kid home to see his sick parents, etc.... but when an entire University allows their Football Program to be the bait for a known child predator to use as his candy store to commit crimes we say it's not a football issue and the NCAA has no jurisdiction?

None of the victims will get their innocence back by putting Jerry Sandusky in jail. None of them will get the purity of their youth's back by suing the Unviversity. But......both must pay, and pay dearly for their crimes. Yes, The Penn State Football program must pay dearly for their major role in this most horrific acts that were done over a 14 year period.

They should have to sit out this season and give the players the option to transfer with out sitting out. This is a tragedy that could have been easily avoided had Joe Paterno shown the courage to do what was right the first damn time. Damn him.
