I disagree. A degree from either of those schools does not open any special doors except for in Texas and Florida.

Maybe in this shithole of an economy, but A&M and Florida have some national appeal and both have huge alumni bases along with being great schools.

Even though their ranking isn't good, I've seen Ole Miss connections everywhere in DC. That'll open up some doors.

I can assure you that my petroleum engineering degree from A&M has opened doors for me globally. Are there dumb Aggies that were classmates of mine that couldn't cut it amongst your average Bama grad? Sure, there might have been a few, but it was a rigorous program that has opened a lot of doors for a lot of us. But you might not believe that, it is no big deal. It definitely hasn't opened doors for me in Malibu Beach, the Florida Keys, or the Swiss Alps, but I can promise you it isn't limited to the Lone Star State.

If I am applying for a nice job in a high rise in New York, LA, Chicago, etc., the only SEC school that will make anyone care is Vandy.

Hmm allow me to rebut...

The top 25 schools whose graduates were the top-rated by recruiters

2. Texas A&M

That's the WSJ btw. THEY carry some weight.
