Les Miles is to college football as Andy Kaufman was to comedy.
He's so far over your heads that you have trouble understanding his genius....therefore you dismiss it as stupidity to make yourself feel better

I literally just about fell out of the chair on that one

Is it an act.
Well, if this is an act:
Overall Record at LSU 75-17
Record vs. Unranked Teams 44-4
Record in Tiger Stadium 43-6
Record in SEC Regular Season Games 41-15
Record vs. Top 25 Teams 31-13
Record vs. SEC Western Division 26-9
Record in SEC Home Games 22-6
Record in SEC Road Games 19-9
4th Quarter/OT Comeback Wins at LSU 18
Record vs. Top 10 Teams 12-9
Wins over coaches with a national title * 13
Record in Bowl Games 5-1
Record in BCS Bowl Games 2-0
BCS National Championships 1
SEC Championships 2
Then I wish we could find someone at AR that would "act" just like this.

Back in 2010 I thought he was a terrible coach. I was at the Bama vs LSU game and it was like watching a pro team vs a 2-A college team and LSU barely pulled out the win. Bama had more talent on that team than in a very very long time.
2010'd
It happens to all the greats.

Still trying to figure out after all of these months, how an SEC win is a "flub"? Tennessee had 13 men on the field.
Blame the Magnolia Meltdown on Les - he was clearly calling for the ball to be spiked (he was wrong for calling it, JJ was wrong for executing it, EVERYBODY on the offensive staff was wrong for not having another play ready to call and not knowing we were out of timeouts).
However, Dooley flubbed the end of the 2010 matchup.

Kinda like a 12-0 bama team needing overtime to beat a 7-5 LSU team, huh?
Besides, even a "2-A college team" can beat ULM so your example is a shitty one

What's a troll coach?...I've never heard this term.

trolling is an internet term
a troll is a person who trolls by posting inflammatory things to elicit a response (often anger)
Spurrier was of course well known for his put downs and zingers (esp at Florida).
FSU = Free Shoes University
Can't spell Citrus without UT (just after beating Tennessee)
"the real shame was some of them weren't colored yet" - commenting on a library fire at Auburn

I personally don't care about his fantastically absurd quotes, and he could eat horse shite on the sidelines for all I care if he is winning.
You can't objectively look at some of the games he has coached and not question his sanity, however, his overall record speaks for itself and you can't argue with that.
To me, Les is the guy in college that lays out all night drinking, throws up on the way to class as he arrives 30 mins late to the wrong room, and still makes a passing grade.
You become torn between hatred and jealousy.

My bad, got my games mixed up on first post and fixed...thanks.
Regarding UT, it's still perceived as a flub nationally, as well it should be. Way too long to get play off, opportunity rescued by the center. A CLM shamrock. But don't get me wrong, I love Shamrocks, glad CLM has so many. Read my whole post though, I hope CLM retires here.

I think Les is a really good coach. He's not a great coach IMO but he's been successful at LSU and his record should speak for itself. I do think he's extremely hard headed at times as he demonstrated against the NC game vs. Alabama but I don't see him being on the hot seat any time soon.

His record tries to speak for itself, but then you say he isn't a great coach.

Ah, a Bo Mattingly troll.
People seem to think that being a head coach is nothing more than being on the sideline and giving speeches. Assemble a staff (Miles has been excellent here), recruit (excellent again and before you say they are all from LA, go back to last year's two deep depth chart and see how many from out of state), and players playing for their coach.
No doubt Miles weaknesses everyone knows about but to think he just rolls out of bed and has a 5 star team and assistant coaches automatically show up is ridiculous.

miles will end up on the switzer/johnson tier of coaching legends. total goofs who won a shite ton of games despite themselves.
"greatness" just doesnt seem to apply to miles. he just doesnt come off as that way to me like other "great" coaches. He's a good coach. he inherited a winner and kept it rolling. good.

You are what your record says you are. If the choice was a great coach like Petrino or one of the most prolific winners in the history of college football in Miles, at this stage in their careers, it would be pretty crazy to choose the former.

He is a really good coach. That's why he's had a really good record. However, I do think a good portion of that success can be attributed to the high level of talent he has to work with year after year. And I believe there's a lot of coaches who could maintain that level of talent at LSU. Just my opinion...
