The conclusion is based on NO major sports titles in 80 years.

You're under the assumption that propensity = future. While it may be an indicator of the future, it's clearly not controlling and definitely secondary to the current state of the program.

To buy your logic would be to say that A&M could have the roster that Alabama has right now, yet not be able to compete with Arkansas or the rest of the SEC in 2012. It doesn't make any damn sense.

What I'm telling you is that the more talented the team, the greater likelihood of success. This is obvious. Sometimes, shitty coaches can transcend talent, or the ability to attract it, and set the program off its course (see Fran and Sherman).

The hope is that Sumlin is the guy and as long as he continues to bring in talent (something we've always done), of course he's not limited to history. He's limited only by his skill-set. He has everything he needs here to win, so did Fran and Sherman.

Our resources and natural advantages -- some of which we've only obtained over the last 30 years -- suggest we should be about where we were with RC, certainly not where we have been the last ten years. This is why A&M is often referred to as a "sleeping giant" or made fun of as "does less with more," etc. It is only a matter of time until the right man is simply able to light the fuse and piece together everything that he has at his disposal. To think Sumlin is the third terrible coach we've hired simply because we've hired two terrible coaches since RC is absurd. And because coaching has been the only issue since 2002, the statement is relevant.

This is not hard to understand. No one is saying A&M is Bama in 2012 or could be that (or anything close to it) in the foreseeable future. But I'd be extremely confident in saying that we'll have won an SEC championship within the next twenty years. And using our time in the Big 12 -- over 50% of which was under Fran/Sherman -- to argue otherwise is just bad logic.
