I'm a Tennessee fan who also follows Ohio State. As you know, both teams were recently in situations where they needed to scramble to find a head coach at a bad time.

Believe me when I say that it's better to go with an interim coach and hire a real coach after the season instead of tying yourself to an unproven commodity for at least 3 years. If Arkansas can't find someone they would be comfortable with for 3 years, they should go the interim route.

I understand that Arkansas has been successful lately and it would hurt for the fans to see what could potentially be a big year go to waste. That said, it's better to have a bad recruiting class and some disappointing results during the season than trying to take a shot in the dark and hoping you hit the jackpot. It could work, but it's far more likely that it would just prolong the misery.

Gruden > Dooley

One is a real coach that has actually won a Superbowl and one is a frat boy.

That's what bothers me. It looks like Butch Davis would take the job tomorrow if offered yet Arkansas probably won't offer.

My fear is we go the interim route sacrifice a recruiting class then end up with a Dooley type hire.
