No flame here..Tennessee should have an awesome passing game..My question, how good will their running game and defense be? Are we looking at another Kentucky when Hal Mumme was running the show?

Definitely not a word.

I think we will at least be improved in the running game from last year.

The defense is definitely a question mark.

I see another 5-7 years of futility for the Vols before the program starts heading in the right direction again.

There is a chance thanks to the passing game UT puts up decent numbers on the ground. The Texas Tech types used to kill it with the delay draw out of a three wide set,

The numbers and their true ability to "run" the ball may not balance, ya dig ?

ETA not everything is measurable by fantasy stats

if they go 5-7 with that schedule, even the fricking mascot should be fired.

I believe you will see Tennessee open up the running game with the passing game. The OL is finally comprised of a senior, juniors, and sophomores, so I expect improvement.

Switching to a base 3-4 defense will make it tough on the defense this year, but I expect them to be middle of the pack in the SEC. Mt. McCullers will have a say in how effective the 3-4 defense will be.

.500 in the SEC IMO 8-4 or 7-5 total

I think they will be better than most believe, including UT fans

I sure hope so. Trying it the other way around would not be a wise idea.

We didn't run a 3-4 almost at all in the O&W game, FWIW

That's not at all better than what most UT fans believe.

Running game looked good today at the O/W Game.

Defense also had good coverage on the WRs all day.

...But I would take this with a grain of salt.

Not having Hunter made it easy. I swear Zach Rogers is the biggest pussy to set foot on a football field

I believe Davante Bourque will get carries as a true freshman also.

I noticed, especially the orange team, ran just as much 3-4 as they did 4-3. With some 4-2-5 in there too.

Everyone acts as if this defense is a huge change. We ran a lot of 3-4 last year, even though our base was 4-3. It's not as big of a change UGA went through a few years ago.

I saw a lot of 4-3 today. Jordan Williams and Jacques played both on the line and upright.

Yeah I questioned if Tennessee could run a 3-4 in another thread. Saban was forced to run a 4-3 in his first year at Bama cuz we had no one big enough to anchor the D-line and really no depth period.
