I don't think Saban is near the villain that many portray him as. He felt he'd done all he could at LSU and wanted to try his hand at something else -- the next logical step. It didn't work out as he wanted, he wished to go back to coaching in college in the SEC, and Alabama was the job available. I'm sure in retrospect he probably would have just stayed at LSU, but I think the fact that he left and then came back to another school that LSU has to play left them feeling slighted. I understand that, but I don't think it's entirely fair to Saban.
