I asked this in the other thread, but why would anyone want a coach that has no college coaching experience (Josh McDaniels) or one that that has three total years in college coaching, and none since 1996 (Steve Mariucci)?
Because for next year we want to keep our assistants in place and let them run their systems. We need someone to just be a CEO, game manager, and big time recruiter. I would prefer Mariucci over McDaniels, although both are highly unlikely IMO.

Arkansas isn't the easiest place to recruit at. Josh McDaniel's only collegiate coaching experience was as a GA under Nick Saban at Michigan State. Steve Mariucci spent two years as Cal's OC and another as head coach in the mid-90s. Neither of those scream "big time recruiter".

If you want to keep your assistants in place and let them run their systems then just promote one of them.
The absolutely dumbest thing any AD can do is hire a "caretaker" head coach and force feed them the asst's that are already there. That is football suicide.
Go the Ohio State route. Promote an asst. as interim head coach for this year and then hire a "real" coach once the season has ended.
If Arkansas hires a "caretaker" coach (let's just call them Mike Shula) then you will be stuck in mud for 4 years and then be looking for a "real" coach 4 years too late.
And FYI: UGA with #1 overall pick and NFL starter Matthew Stafford/Aaron Murray > 3rd round bench warmer Mallett/Wilson.
