I dont think there was any truth to the Texas rumors. Im sure PSU contacted him.

The fire storm of bad press Penn State would have endured making a splash hire prohibited them from making a sincere offer to Nick Saban. This was a given from the onset when it became apparent that the cash cow of football had superceded the welfare of childern.

I dunno... there are some fairly serious rumblings about the "blank check" approach that Texas supposedly took.
