Last week a Georgia fan was on here asking for travel advice to Columbia. Today, Delta just announced direct flights from Atlanta into Columbia starting this summer. This would definitely be the most convenient route to go. Here's the link for more info:

You guys at Mizzou need to give the rest of us the low down on coming to Columbia. Whats the tradition, where to eat, where to go...where NOT to go, is it hostile or friendly? is Columbia easy to get to or a pain (like Fayettenam and Stark vegas).

As I said, the question was asked by a UGA fan earlier. I couldn't find the thread or else I would have posted it there. Just trying to help. Geez.

Passed through Columbia a couple summers ago. Cool town, pretty campus, nice stadium. SEC could have done a whole lot worse. UM>>WVU any old day of the fricking week.

Extremely easy to get to from STL or KC or even Springfield....
a few places, I will post a more in depth post closer to football season for everyone who plans to come up here
Flat Branch Pub and Brewery is hands down my favorite restaurant in Columbia. Great microbrewery and the Brown Ale is fantastic.
Booches (on 9th st. next to Panera Bread Co.)
Murrys (South of the stadium on Providence & Green Meadows)
Shakespeares Pizza wheat crust and pepperjack cheese is a must
The bar scene is pretty good in Columbia...
Field House is pretty crazy on a Friday night with $10 bottomless cup from 9-12.
The Penguin (dueling piano bar) is pretty popular on Fridays before games...usually doesn't carry many specials but is popular among the young and old.
Harpos is your quintessential college bar and very popular before, during and after games. They used to carry $1 bottles on Friday nights, but I doubt they do anymore due to games.
Campus Bar and Grill) is a pretty good bar with a lot of TVs, good food, and pretty cheap drinks. If you are here on Sunday, they have dollar burgers which are pretty damn good.
Bengals is a pretty good bar also. They have a huge outdoor seating area and lots of TVs inside. I also believe they have a shuttle to the game too.
Shiloh Bar and Grill is a really popular bar with live music Friday and Saturdays and a huge outdoor seating area.

All the bars you could want are between 9th St. to 4th street and Broadway to Elm St.
[/list]
I would recommend checking out the campus while you are here, especially The Quad, Memorial Union, The new MU student center and our Rec Center LINK /..

If you like hours of driving through the most boring country in America, you will enjoy driving from KC or STL, I-70 sucks. Columbia is in the middle of nowhere, you will literally be praying for some hills just to keep you awake at the wheel.

So please give me your rundown of Arkansas.

I'll vouch for the greasy burgers at Booche's Pool Hall and Boone's Tavern has a good Sunday brunch. Also, if out of towners don't already have motel rooms in Columbia then they can pretty much forget getting one.

Arkansas has seven natural geographic divisions, Missouri has two. Arkansas has mountains (Ozarks and Ouachitas), the Arkansas river valley, the gulf coastal plain, the timberlands of south AR, Crowley's Ridge, Arkansas Delta, and Central Arkansas, which is a mix of many regions in the center of the state.
Aside from the Ozarks, which are shared, the northern half of Missouri, including the area mentioned around I-70 is no different than the square flat farmland of Iowa, Nebraska, or Kansas. No one thinks those states are especially fun to drive across, and MO is no different. I've driven every mile of I-40 across Arkansas, and I've driven every mile of I-70 across MO and I say Missouri is no different than any other farm state in the Midwest.
But I'll let other ranters make their own decision. Here is the MO video. Here is I-540 in AR. To each his own.
