LSU as a whole had the better team, played more quality opponents and had both of its losses come in triple OT. That said, UGA was playing much better football late in the season and was even ranked ahead of LSU in the polls prior to the SECCG (UGA was #4; LSU was #7).

No question Georgia was playing very well by season's end. But.....Polls can be a major joke as they also had Virginia Tech ranked ahead of LSU in the poll prior to the SEC title game. LSU and VT had identical records and LSU beat Virginia Tech 48-7 earlier that season.

When it came time to pick the two most deserving teams for the NC game, the poll voters finally used their collective brains and put ranked the teams on what they accomplished during the season as a whole. LSU's resume was far better than UGA's.

It looks and feels like Richt's glory days are over. The fact that the nation, and more importantly, the recruits sense this, he needs to be let go. There's no excuse for not locking down GA in recruiting, and no excuse for starting almost every season off flat. I'll just say this... UGA can do better, and no, UGA will not win a MNC w/ Richt at the helm. Just my honest opinion.
