We are pretty much a bubble team right now. There isn't any breathing room to be had. We can lose 2 more games and be OK. 3 more and we are really pushing it. Unless we manage to beat UF. If we do that I think we get in easily even if we end up 9-7.

Disaster averted.
We had no idea what defense we were in on the 3 that tied the game in OT. Some playing zone, some playing man. That was brutal. I just knew they would get an open 3 and make it.
That said, I'm not going to bitch overall. We may not be very good. We were certainly overhyped. Our freshmen were certainly overhyped. But we may have played harder tonight than we have all year.
I thought even Mitchell played really hard. He did stupid things, but frankly I'm now resigned to the fact that he's going to do stupid things. Just play hard. I'm resigned to the fact that we can't shoot. Fine, I'm over it. Just play hard and rebound. I thought we did both.

Williams from Ole Miss was surprisingly good. I haven't seen them much this year so maybe he's been playing well overall. But I didn't know what Ole Miss had outside of an athletic, big, frontcourt, and he was kind of a difference for them. If he continues to play well they could be a tourney team.
Their point guard doesn't seem like a point guard. Again, for whatever reason I've seen them less than pretty much any team in the SEC this year. But he's not a good enough ball handler.

I'm still going to complain about the offense having absolutely zero identity.
The freshmen are good players. They just aren't the type that should be in the NBA right now like what UK buys.
They did play hard in the 2nd half and OT, so that's a good sign. They played hard against Arky too. Even Mitchell. Hopefully this week of practice was a reality check for him.

This win makes me happy in pants.

I thought in the second half when Jamychal was in we kind of had an identity. Its just that we can't rely on kicking out to an open shooter and having him make it.
Hankerson was big, Steele was big. I thought Cooper was pretty decent.
Good win but this season is going to be a chore. We have so many must wins that I'm almost dreading each game
At Auburn: MUST win.
At LSU: close to a must win.
Then we have Florida at home, and really that's the best opportunity we have left for a really big win until the SEC tournament.
If we can somehow come out of that 7-4

I realize that being woefully incapable of hitting outside shots has a lot to do with us getting bogged down, but I just wish we would try to push the tempo more. We are usually really good in transition. When we slow it down and try to run halfcourt sets our offense just isn't effective though. Randolph needs to start trying to get into the lane too.

How about those 4 straight offensive fouls or whatever the frick they called?

2 of them were complete bullshite from what I could tell. Green was getting mugged down low most of the game. We really haven't gotten the kind of blatant home cooking this year that everyone else seems to benefit from.

I thought we got some calls down the stretch (and that's obviously a big deal), but we were reverse housed for a while there. Just awful.
That said, we boo everything. Even the most obvious fouls. People were booing Gueye's elbow (bizarre, bizarre foul, dude's a bull in a china shop). It lessens the impact of us booing the obvious bullshite calls.

I think it's a mixture of officials not liking Green as well as Grant not being able to work the officials. The foul on Moussa was a frustration foul but someone has to play with fire.

I like how Moussa battles. I wish we would give him the ball cause he always gets great position.

That was the right call, but it also looked like the OM guy flopped like a European.
Unless Moussa is just ridiculously strong.

It seems like hardly anybody is winning on the road in the SEC and nobody loses at home (minus UK)

Glad we won tonight. I hope we can get a decent location for our tourny games

Gueye's a project. I saw some things tonight which made me optimistic. A nice running hook which rimmed out. A blocked shot. But if he played 20 minutes an night he'd foul out. And at times he seems ultra aggressive and at times he seems soft. He's certainly got more potential than Engstrom though.
I'm a bit worried about our lack of athleticism with our big men next year after Jamychal leaves (if Tony leaves its because he's a dumb arse or he was kicked off, he's certainly not a pro). Jacobs has some post moves but is so lacking in athleticism. Gueye and Engstrom are decently athletic for 7 footers but that's about it.
I don't know what we're doing recruiting wise this year, and I know we only can take a small class, but we need an athletic 4/5 who can rebound, block shots, and run the floor.

The few times I've run into Moussa around campus, he looks to pretty much be all muscle.

We desperately need one of those 6'10" guys who can't do shite on offense but grabs every rebound that comes within reach. It seems like all these mid majors have them. I really don't understand why we can't seem to find one.
The Taylor kid in the 2013 class seems pretty athletic. He's just skinny as frick. Maybe he can re-classify.
