If you think a kid has a possibility of needing a greyshirt, give him that offer up front. That did not happen here, as he was given the offer just weeks before NSD.

I understand what you are trying to say here, and perception can be reality. National Signing Day is not the only day an athlete can sign. He could have extended his recruitment for as long as he liked.

He could have visited schools, taken a week off, discussed his options with trusted friends, etc. It's not like he was told, "Nope. Sorry. We got nothing for you." and had to quickly , within hours, come up with somewhere that would take him.

He could have extended his recruitment for as long as he wanted. There are plenty of schools that have open spots.

That would also gretaly increase the chance of not going to a school worthy of his talents because they all fill up too. Plain and simple, Bama used this kid. Why didn't they tell him 2 months ago this was a possibility? I'm sure the staff had some idea on how they may close out the class then. Just a week or two before signing day? come on, that is just wrong.
