I agree with all points made...and I certainly am not taking up for Saban...it's his fault people view him the way the do as far as recruiting players is concerned...but these kids flock to play for him knowing the risk...I'm pretty sure other coaches point this out to the recruits and their families...
Seems to me making a recruit sign in LOI when he commits would take this problem away...no commitment without a signature...

They should not be allowed to commit until a specific amount of time has passed since their visit and last coach contact. That way impulse and emotion would be blunted, but they should be able to sign once that period has passed and they are ready to commit.
