LSU/Bama Rivalry?

I've seen several posters, mainly bammers, claim it is not a rivalry. I would like to hear their explanation.
What makes it not a rivalry?
I can see where gumps might feel the angst is all on one side but if they had to list their three most hated opponents, what would they currently be?

Why do you think it is a rivalry?

The problem here is that when Saban is gone from Alabama then this whole talk will fade away......The rivalry is LSU vs Saban and vice versa.....the University of Alabama has little, if anything, to do with it.

Because I don't think about LSU when we're not playing them. The game means a lot right now because of the success both teams are having, but if either team were consistently at the bottom of the West, the game wouldn't measure a blip on the radar.
Auburn and Tennessee. Everyone else is just a game.

lol....LSU doesn't have a rival.
You clinging to that thought, attempting to make it one only makes y'all look like little jealous brother....trying to catch a ride.

I think it could be a rivalry game that lasts even when Saban leaves. From and outsider view I see it that way fwiw.

I get the feeling that alot of LSU fans feel that they are missing a piece of the college football puzzle by not having a true rivalry with anyone so they have been reaching on this BAMA/LSU rivalry thing for a while now.
BAMA/LSU is a rivalry but not in the sense that BAMA/Auburn is.

Why do you think it is a rivalry?
Because of the history of competitiveness between the programs. Every year they are one of the fan bases most anticipated opponents. The high level of competition and enthusiasm displayed by the players, coaches, and fans for the games. IMO.

Why is it a rivalry? Because we are both good and play them every year? The Saban thing has passed. That was only good for the first couple of years. Is Auburn a rivalry? Arkansas? Alabama? Florida? Texas A&M? Tulane? Ole Miss? We can't be rivals with everyone. Alabama has rivals in Auburn and Tennessee. LSU is not one of them.

It's only been like that the past few years. Before that, it was LSU vs. Auburn/Florida.

Ole Miss is your biggest rival brah.

My dislike for LSU is mostly limited to the 7-14 days prior to our annual football game.
My dislike for Auburn and Tennessee lasts year round.

Maybe LSU in the past few years but def not Bama's.
I think you are trying to equate the last few years of LSU football as a synopsis of the entire history. Not to take away from what they did in the past.

That's not how this works. Burden on proof is on you.
I swear just 7-8 years ago everyone talked about Auburn LSU being the premier SEC West matchup. Yall will never have a real rival. Deal with it.

This is because of what the teams represent as a challenge and because the road to any title, SEC or NC, will likely go through those two teams. It is not anticipated because of "who" the teams are. As soon as that title road starts running through Fayetteville, Bama won't give two shits about LSU (and vice versa, I'm sure).

Yeah if Bama vs. LSU is a rivalry, why isn't LSU vs. Auburn a rivalry? I remember those two programs competing directly with each other for SEC West titles just as many times if not more so than LSU and Bama in the last ten years.

LSU rivals were:
Ole Miss (no longer relevant so its faded)
aTm (stopped playing each other, should renew)
Tulane (obvious)

Up untill saban came back to bama, it was Auburn for about 10 years and UF because of the divisional opponent.
