Clay is full of it, but he also makes some valid points... UT is down, way down and Dooley will NOT get them out of it.. Dooley at UT = Shula at Bama, just a temporary coach...

I hope more people say things like this. It seems like we'll do anything to resemble Alabama except actually hold the program to high standards and spend money on a real head football coach. I know Smart is supposedly Hart's guy, but hopefully after Dooley is fired Tennessee actually tries to find a winner instead of just jumping head first into the first thing that looks familiar and blindly hoping it works out.

I saw these two walking to the far end of Burbon Street where the rainbow flags are....

With UT's recruiting challenges and their current situation it seems daunting for them to get back to winning the SECCG anytime soon.

They are the one major program that can't dig themselves out of a hole, banking on in-state talent to stay home. Alabama's 2008 class was predominantly in-state guys. They turned things around. UT can't lean on anything like that.

But Shula did have a 10 win season...
Proves even an idiot can win 10 games at Alabama.

Don't kid yourself. The East sucks and I'm not sold on a single one of the coaches long term. The right coach would have Tennessee in the SEC title game in the next couple years, and if Dooley was a good coach, Tennessee would be in contention this year, too.

What kind of classes was Shula pulling in while he was the coach? Were they really much better than the classes Tennessee is bringing in? You really don't think Saban couldn't pull elite talent to Tennessee?
