FWIW, I don't think this is over. I do, however, think the family had some inkling that he would choose Alabama, if he indeed was sold on Alabama for two years. They may be disappointed, but in the end they'll do what families do, and support him.
I am sure the LSU coaching staff will continue to recruit Collins. As they should. Now, my initial reaction was that he would likely flip (see my thread on the other board), but I'm not so sure now. I think we'll have to continue to recruit him as if he's uncommitted (as Saban does with all commits), as suggested prior, but in the end he remains with Alabama.
