I'm a LSU fan and just got back from Nashville to support the Dawgs. although I'm not a big fan of the cowbell, it was only rung during key moments of the game. It's not as bad as Rocky Top IMO.

it's also not nearly as bad as the group of Bama fans screaming "f*ck you LSU" over and over again at female passerby wearing a LSU cap on Broadway Street.

If he is a vietnam vet, then yes it should. It means he fought for our freedom and risked his life so you can retain your natural born rights and live in a country without fear of being invaded.
