This is the most accurate statement made. Without Emmert, LSU and Saban may not be where they are. Hats off to Emmert for his vision. I'm glad saban was the one Emmert chose and he did the job he did for the Tigers. If bama thought saban was some football genius, why didn't they get him from Mich St. when they were playing merry-go-'round with coaches?

Everyone wants to give Saban 100% of the credit in rebuilding LSU, because he was the most visible to the football public. Football fans assume that he was hired at LSU and had the same playing field as DiNardo and Hallman, but he had advantages that they never had. Hallman was worthless as a coach, but DiNardo actually was pretty good. It wasn't his fault that LSU wouldn't pony up the cash to pay for good asst. coaches. When LSU (ie cheap Joe Dean) wouldn't give him the money to pay Carl Reese, Reese left and DiNardo had to hire a new DC on the cheap and LSU faltered miserably.

LSU opened up the wallet and gave Saban anything and everything he wanted.

Saban was the perfect coach to rebuild the program, however, with all the funds thrown at him. He was ruthless, brilliant, and a major workaholic, that demanded perfection. So, major kudo's have to be given to him for his part in rebuilding the program. I will always be thankful to him for what he did at LSU.
