quote: What's with all the ACT talk? Do most SEC schools prefer the ACT over SAT? The schools I applied (including UF) to cared more about the SAT than the ACT. Depends on the school. At least in the SEC West, the ACT is more widely used. If you want a comparison by SAT, check the link: LINK LSU has the highest 25th/75th percentile scores in the West, followed by Auburn and Arkansas. For ACT comparison see: LINK Arkansas and LSU have the highest profiles in the West on the ACT. In the east, obviously Vandy, followed by Georgia and Florida, which makes sense given their populations.
Your link contains old data. For example, the chart shows Auburn with a 75%ile ACT score of 27. Their average score is now over 27 and their 75%ile score is now 30. That is a HUGE gain.

How in the hell did Eddie Lacy get into Bama?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because all major programs will relax their standards for stud athletes if they meet the NCAA minimums. How do you think Craig Loston got into LSU?
Lacy was way too big a risk academically. He's 20 minutes from LSU's campus - they knew.
Saban's strings got him in to Tuscaloosa Middle School.
It was an easy call for LSU.

Whoops, big mistake. The 27% ile should be 75% ile. I'll fix it.

Main reason this is flawed. For comparison sakes
20k applied to bama and 10k got in
15k applied to AU and 12k got in, hence the lower rating
And I am sure this applies to several other schools
My alma mater accepted nearly 90% and ranks above both.

I played around in high school never studying or doing homework and graduated with a 2.2 GPA. I had to spend a year at Southern Illinois University to prove myself to make up for slacking off in high school.
However during my senior year of high school, I did receive a ton of letters from Ole Miss. Not a single one from Mizzou. In hindsight though, I wish I would have gone to Ole Miss for a year.
