Will Boone Pickens Sue the BCS to Stop the BCS Championship Game?

LINK Boone Pickens has a history of fighting the system, breaking up companies and making millions of dollars many times over. Now the BCS has just messed with his school. If there is ever a Perfect Storm it's the BCS choosing a school who has not won their conference or division over his Oklahoma State Cowboys who have just won their first ever Big 12 Conference Championship. Boone Pickens has invested 185 million dollars in OSU and expects a fair return.
I think there is more than a 50% chance Pickens will file a lawsuit to stop the BCS from choosing the teams who play for the College Football National Championship. Who says the BCS is qualified to select who plays for College Football's National Championship when television exposure and millions of dollars are at stake for a school like OSU?
I hope Boone Pickens will follow thru and destroy the flawed system we call the BCS. I dislike the fact that we are the only major sport in college athletics that is not allowed to compete for the National Championship by way of a fair playoff system. I hope this Perfect Storm is what it takes for a man who has the time and money to fight and kill the BCS. A lawsuit now would turn college football upside down and bring huge attention to a man who has built a career on doing just that in the corporate world.
I sincerely hope Mr. Pickens takes this challenge on to give us a playoff system. I'm tired of the television networks and Bowl games making millions off a flawed system that works for the power brokers but not the fans, coaches and players of college football. It's time to end this mess!
Please Boone!!! Take the ball and run!!! College Football Fans everywhere will be forever grateful if you can give us the College Football playoff system we all want. :use:

“After the way we handled OU tonight, somehow I can’t imagine LSU playing Alabama twice. It doesn’t make sense. It looks like it’s an SEC closed system if that happens and Alabama didn’t even win the conference...
“I think we are the ones that will play LSU -- for all the right reasons too. I don’t think we have to assume anything other than we deserve it.”
Pickens said his first gift to OSU was $20 million and he said his second gift was $165 million.
After making the second gift, he had something to say about it. He said he was tired of leaving the stadium with his head down.

“Winning the Big 12 at this time... and everything else, it was just a great feeling for all of us because we have never been Big 12 champions before,” Pickens said.
“What a thrill for me at 83 years old. It’s a big deal. I didn’t want them to not get there before I ran out of time. I’m sure glad they got it tonight -- not that I am planning on leaving or anything.”
Pickens was asked whether “this” feels better than a big-money deal.
“Of course it does,” he said.

Yes, because T. Billyboy Dickens is much more powerful than Congress, which has already tried to investigate and did nothing.
Oh, and as far as the BCS having the right, I'd say they do considering his own damn school agreed to the BCS as a member of the Big 12.

He has no standing to sue. He's not an injured party.

Perfect storm? You think this is the first close/controversial decision in BCS era? It happens more often than not. Nothing new this year, and nothing will change. Long live the BCS!

You missed it. The Perfect Storm is Boone Pickens and OSU. Pickens has the track record and the money to destroy the BCS. He would never do this for another school. He's wrestling with this and will make his decision soon if he's not already moving forward with it. If you are too young to know who Boone Pickens is just Google him and read up on how many hostile corporate takeovers he's been successful at back in the 1980's.

What standing does he have to sue?
OSU entered into this agreement. The Championship Game participants were selected according to the BSC rules they agreed upon. Even if he did have standing, what basis is their for a suit?

His standing would be to discredit the BCS. Championships should be decided on the field, not by polls and computers. As I'm sure you know lawyers and money win legal battles. Discrediting the BCS would not be hard to do. Pickens has made millions by going against agreements and winning.

I wasn't aware we already had a champ.
The more you know.

It's always a matter of personality, capability, motivation, and picking the right moment to leverage those. IMO Sagarin and the issue of a rematch may have provided that moment, if Boone wants to pursue it.

That is not what standing means. Look it up.

I guess the B12 forgot that the SEC commissioner proposed a +1 playoff in 2008, but the other commissioners wouldn't even discuss it. The blame for the current state of affairs doesn't belong with the SEC. It belongs to the Pac-12, Big 12, and Big 10, who wouldn't even consider the possibility of a +1. Now it is the fans of those conferences who are complaining bitterly when the SEC has 2 teams playing for the title.

Most educated people and business majors know the legend of Boone Pickens. I could see the guy causing some big trouble for the BCS, if he decides to do it.

I really question the intellect of many on this forum. No. TB will not sue. It isn't even a question. He has a natural gas propaganda that will make him a ton of money. He doesn't want to start pissing people off.

Pickens?
I'm sure the NCAA/BCS is scared.
In case you missed it, the DOJ has been on the trail of the NCAA/BCS for a while now. How did the NCAA react to that? Basically, they laughed.
DOJ >Pickens

Let's see, 3 national championship games in 9 years, the SEC has won 6 straight national titles...
...Yes, I LOVE the BCS.
Why would a fan of any SEC school want to change this system is beyond me.
Do y'all REALLY think that if we get rid of the BCS, LSU and the SEC would win MORE championships?
That's just dumb.

Boone Pickens would thoroughly enjoy this fight. He's the most skilled person to take it on. Mark Cuban would pony up for the fight. It's a classic Boone Pickens opportunity. It would be his final high profile battle before he rides off into the sunset.
