Does the nation discount an LSU championship if they play Alabama?

My position on a rematch is already on record on this board, so you all can drop the "LSU is scared" shite.
However, if OSU wins out, but Alabama still gets in the BCS NC, do you think the nation will cry foul? Do you think LSU's second win will be discounted in the media since some may argue that it does not prove any more than November 5th did?
I have seen arguements, specifically from Chris Low on ESPN, that beating Arky, UGA and Bama again would put LSU into the GOAT argument. However, I think the 14th win could be discounted by some of the media. What say you?

No, I think everyone will say, "yeah, that's what we thought, Bama IS better."

Haters will hate regardless. Let's just take care of our business and let everything else work itself out.

there is an offical rematch thread stickied at the top of the page. Why does everyone feel their "original" thought deserves to have its own thread instead of being in that ALREADY created official thread?

Nobody really believes Okie State can beat LSU.
Nobody.
Nobody.

Okie State won't even beat Oklahoma.

Without a doubt and rules would be changed. However if OSU wins I think they will be in

No. Some will discount it a bit if Bama wins it after losing to LSU in the regular season, but that sentiment will fade fairly quickly for all but a portion of LSU and Auburn fans.

Gonna be the first time in six years that the SEC Champions lost the crystal ball.

I have not seen this angle discussed whatsoever, and I prefer to keep it out of the bitch-fest that is stickied.
I am asking is a 14-0 LSU team that beat another conference winner, perhaps VT or OSU, have a better perception than a 14-0 LSU team that beat Alabama twice?
I would prefer to beat Bama twice, because I would rather have the nation bitch about the rematch than suffer through Bama fans bitching about LSU not playing the true #2 team.

who cares? we get another crystal ball after an undefeated season. once again there will be no doubt on whether LSU belongs in the game.

FIFY. OSU would have definitely been in - even with the ISU loss - if OU had not lost to Baylor. Now a win over OU means they beat the #10 team, not the #4 or #5 team. There is a difference.
LSU beats Arky and the Hogs will still be ahead of OU, which means OSU will not have a better win than Bama, but they'll have a considerably worse loss.

Even if some of the media doesn't want to see a rematch pretty much everyone agrees that LSU/Bama are the top teams in the nation. Isn't that the ultimate goal of the BCS? to pit the two top teams against each other.
Also Colin Cowherd made a good point on a possible rematch...wondering why "college guys" are against a rematch. He said: was anybody complaining when the Patriots had to beat the Giants on the road in 2007 to close their perfect season and then have to turn around and beat them again in the Super Bowl, only to lose in a very close game? The answer is no. Why? There was a playoff...Well, if there was a playoff, don't you think there would be a very good chance LSU/Bama play again. The bottom line is, yes it's not a perfect system and does devalue LSU's win, but so would a playoff.
There is no perfect solution to what has happened this season.
The only "fair" thing to do, would be for LSU not to even have to play in a championship game. Just declare them them the champs after the SEC championship game...But that's not going to happen so the only logical thing left to do is let the best two teams go at it again....If LSU can win that game, it will be historic and will go down as one of the greatest teams in CFB history.

I don't think so at all. I'd even go so far as to say it's a key aspect of why many will consider LSU among the best teams ever if the win out and beat Alabama twice for the title.
The only reason there is even a possibility of Alabama playing is because most media and fans believe so strongly that they are far and away the best team after LSU.
If there were an undefeated foe from the BIG12, BIG10 or PAC12, of course, but even the people desperately arguing for Oklahoma St bring up conference champions etc etc but hardly seem to really think they're a "great" team that would seriously challenge LSU.

Toward the BCS....yes. Toward LSU....no. I think most people think LSU is the only proven team in the nation. Who has Alabama, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, or OSU beat? no one.
