Ill be accused of being a homer and thats fine, but I think id see it the same way no matter what:

The returner never called for a fair catch, he was shileding his eyes. Wade is not looking up at the ball, he is looking at the returner. He hit him early and it was clearly a penalty, which was called. He probably celebrated a big hit, but he obviously had no idea that the guy was "hurt". He cruched a guy and popped up with a reaction that most kids would have.

Where Wade really got out of line was his defiant behavior on the sidelines pulling away for his coach. Bottom line is he hit the returner early and was penalized for it. He was clearly not trying to hurt a player and looked as if he didnt even know it was early until he got to the sideline. An ejection for that play is laughable and so is the absurd reaction by over dramatic media and message board posters.

It was a penalty that was called. Nothing more, nothing less.

Probably the most reasonable post in this thread.

If this play happens in the Big 10, the offending player probably plays the rest of the game.
