Where are we?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) The fans distaste for the program's leadership has erupted into unprecedented public displays of dissatisfaction designed to effectuate a change. These "displays" are personal, persistent, and well funded;
2) The National media picks up on these displays, and the program, and it's fans, soon become a laughing stock in the conference and world of college football;
3) The long term A.D., who was previously involved with the program's "glory days" prior to becoming A.D. is on shaky ground, and it looks like he will lose his job -- if he doesn't step down first;
4) The Chacellor -- long thought to be sufficiently isolated from football results, is taking significant criticism for failing to address the percieved crisis within the program;
5) Coach David Lee is being criticized for conservative play calling, running the ball too often on first down, and refusing to shake things up;
6) People are calling for Coach Houston Nutt to be replaced. They are fed up with the team's lack of consistency, consistent under achievement, lack of team discipline, and insufficient recruiting. People have attached the nick-name "quarterback-killer" to him, and often refer to the lack of developed high school quarterbacks within the program. They are put off that he's publicly flirted with other jobs in order to posture for raises. They also grow tired of his constant excuse making -- i.e. injuries, tough schedule, young players, and "poor execution" by the players;
7) Fans are upset that many on the coaching staff are retained simply due to being related to Houston Nutt, or having coached with him for several years. They cite to Danny Nutt, Mark Murcuson, David Lee, James Shibest, Don Decker, and Chris Vaughn as examples. There is also talk that he refused to allow a young up and coming innovative offensive coordinator to "stretch his wings", and the young coach leaves to assume a less pestiges job;
If you said we're talking about Oxford, Mississippi in October 2011 you'd be wrong. This is what was happening in Fayetteville, Arkansas in October 2007. We all know how that one ended, why would we expect this to end any differently?

You sure did, but you can't blame us for not believing you after going like 14-30 the 4 years prior to Nutt and him taking us to the Cotton Bowl.As much as it may be Nutt's fault, it really isn't like our results prior to Nutt have ever been much better, except when a Manning was under center.

I can't decide if I feel bad or not. I'll feel bad after this year I guess.
He shouldn't have been allowed to come home after the Vandy game IMO.

I told you Ole Miss fans in a thread a while back that I had no hate in my body for Ole Miss. Ole Miss just happened to hire a coach I cannot stand.
It is not "jealousy" nor is it "obsessing" over the man.
I would put it more on the level of America's Most Wanted.
For example: One day I realize my credit card number had been stolen. They ran up a bill of close to $10k. Eventually this person got caught. He goes to court and his punishment is a fine and small community service chores. 5 months later I have a friend that had the same thing happen to them. Turns out to be the same person who did it. I am pissed off because this person had the opportunity to ruin someone else's credit just like he did mine.
My only hope at this point is that the scam artist will be put away for good this time.

Houston Nutt was a band aid for Ole Miss.

That's pretty good. It is pretty eerie how it is playing out the exact same way it did in Fayetteville.
It is although a lot of our issues are with our AD and have been for a long time. I think if you polled Rebel fans who they would fire if they could only fire one, it would be Boone.

Very true but I can see it playing out just like ours where the coach, AD and Chancellor all get pushed out the door. I would have never guessed that Houston Nutt would be the cause of the great Frank Broyles retiring and the Chancellor of the entire university "resigning".

I still can't believe how that all went down, Nutt just never seemed to know when his welcome was worn out.

It took so long for Arkansas to get rid of Nutt because whenver it seemed his back was against the wall, he would produce.
Just wish it wasn't such a roller coaster with him. He can actually coach some pretty good games. Problem is you never know what you are going to get with him, except you know you will get inconsistency.
It has to be killing knowing what Petrino is doing at his former dream job. I think that has actually killed his drive & confidence as well.
He isn't the same coach he used to be.

Matt Jones and Darren McFadden singlehandedly kept Nutt employed for 5 years.

Chancellor maybe, but not Broyles. That dude was old and it was well past his time, Nutt or no-Nutt.
