A big thank you to Glenn Vickery for easing the load on our man TJ last night:

quote:

Yeldon ran 5 times for 78 yards, scoring twice on runs of 36 and 13 yards, and caught a 1-yard TD toss for the Trojans (7-0, 5-0 6A Region 2).

With Alexander likely headed to LSU this week, OL recruiting, specifically OT, is getting thin.

at LSU taking both Miller and Alexander. Maybe one will reconsider by Feb?

How do we stand with Liggins? Do we see him as a QB?

***Auburn assistant coach Curtis Luper is meeting with running back commit T.J. Yeldon in Daphne this morning. Yeldon remains committed to Auburn following an official visit to Alabama last weekend and sources close to his recruitment expect Yeldon to stick with the Tigers. ***Yeldon will be leaving for Montgomery soon for the start of Ala-Miss all-star practices. Once he reports this afternoon, no coaches are allowed to have face-to-face contact with Yeldon or any of the all-star players until after they return home from the game Saturday. ***Auburn coach Gene Chizik will have an in-home visit with Yeldon next week.

Update on Yeldon:

quote:

The nation's No. 3 running back and No. 24 overall prospect T.J. Yeldon committed to Auburn in June, and has remained a firm commitment to the Tigers since.

Last Monday however, Alabama head coach Nick Saban visited Yeldon and his family in their home. Yeldon followed that up with an official visit to Alabama over the weekend. After the visit to the Tigers' arch-rival, Yeldon maintains his pledge to Auburn remains unchanged.

"I'm still firm with Auburn," Yeldon said Monday evening.

When asked to elaborate on his commitment to the Tigers, Yeldon reiterated, "I'm still strong with Auburn, I'm still going there. I still plan to enroll early there."

Lots of good stuff popping up on twitter about Channing Ward. Looks good for AU. Hope we can close the deal.

I think the only possible recruit we may lose over this is Ricky Parks. Malzahn only has him and Zeke committed at this time.

From JaQuay Williams:

quote:

"I'm not planning on going anywhere else unless something crazy, crazy happens like coach (Gene) Chizik or coach Trooper (Taylor) leaves. But still, I still probably wouldn't leave because I love Auburn so much. I fell in love with Auburn, I didn't fall in love with an offensive coordinator."

Williams said pressure isn't what caused him to make his first public comments in weeks, saying the constant rumors have been "annoying" more than anything else.

"I'm 100 percent committed to Auburn, that's my message right there. I want to get that out," Williams said. "I'm tired of people posting on websites saying I'm decommitted and all these Alabama fans going crazy. I'm tired of it."

New Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze has made Ward a priority and many believe Ward is leaning to the in-state school where his older brother is a walk-on. "Everybody thinks that, but no. Ole Miss has a shot, thats it,” he said

“I like Auburn a lot, its just the distance away from home," he said. "The distance doesn't really matter, but I want my parents to be able to watch me.”

Per PM...

quote:

I am told by a source very close to the search that it appears now it will probably be during or after the American Football Coaches Association convention before new coordinators are hired. The convention is set for Sunday-Wednesday in San Antonio. A recruiting dead period starts Monday and goes though Thursday of next week. "He is being very, very thorough," the source said. "He wants to make certain he has the right guys."
