They're starting out at least #2 in the polls. No one is going to jump them, if they go 12-0. Certainly not a one loss team. The only controversy that will result is if there are more than two undefeated BCS teams.

If all OU has to do is start out at 1 in a human poll, what good is the BCS formula?

The polls are largely irrelevant; OU won't be #1 when the first BCS rankings come out.
