If Houston Nutt has a subpar season and is fired...

what would the Ole Miss fanbase think if Pete Boone went out and hired Mike Leach?
Personally, I think that would be a home run hire for Ole Miss. He would bring much needed stability and some excitement to the Rebel program.
In 10 seasons at Texas Tech, he went 84-43 overall and 47-33 in the Big XII. His teams finished ranked in the final AP poll 5 out of 10 seasons. He never had a losing season and never won less than 7 games in a season.

Good quarterbacks & receivers are more plentiful in Texas than Mississippi.

He had 8 consecutive seasons of 8 or more wins. This is the stability the Ole Miss program needs, IMO.

It would seem that any program looking for an infusion of energy would take a shot at Leach.

If they thought they had a chance at hiring Leach then they should fire Nutt NOW and hire him.

At least he won't kill whatever he gets.

As long as Leach promptly peed on Pete Boone and took his check book I'd be all for it.
Really though, Leach would be awesome.

Ole Miss recruits Alabama, Louisiana, the Memphis area, and Florida pretty heavily. He could definitely find some talent in all of those fertile recruiting bases.

Ole miss might become pretty fricking scary

I wonder if an "Air Raid" attack would ever work in the SEC though.

Of course, Mike Leach did lose handily to houston nutt with the best team texas tech has ever fielded.

no doubt he could be pesky to the flagship. imo he would have ole miss pass up the cheating coach les and LSU.

I'd be all for it. Guy knows his shite. Hopefully he would put together a solid staff on the defensive side of the ball. If i remember correctly Leach was notorious for not having good defenses.

Meh I am indifferent. You have to have defense in the SEC as we all know. So many of his teams relied on winning shootouts or beating up on the smaller teams in the Big 12 and weak OOC teams. At the samne time though, he would def bring alot to the sideline and postgame pressers.

with the WR class we just brought in.....Leach would put up some amazing numbers IMHO.

If Leah couldnt beat an 8-4 Ole Miss team with the best team EVER fielded by Texas Tech, what makes people think he was would have consistently winning teams in the SEC?

part of the problem is so many times coaches have to decide on whether to make an ATH-type player a DB or WR. Leach would turn them into WR's every time and not think about it.
You get to the SEC and you have to make decisions like Nutt will have to about Snoop. We really need some DB's so it just will depend on if some other WR's step up.
