I got to meet Coach Stallings when he was doing his book tour right after the championship. I was still young and I took my SI cover to be autographed and the people running the signing said that nothing but his book could be signed but I could still meet him. Coach asked me when I got up there if I wanted him to sign the SI cover so to the Books A Million people

Only person I have an autograph of is from him. Got a practice ball he signed for me, and went to a book signing a year or so ago to get one for a close friend and got me a book too. While standing in line, I met a man named Dee Powell. Turns out, he had played with him as a Junction Boy. We talked a good 30 or 40 minutes before Stallings got there. He and his wife were super nice. When we got up to Stallings, he recognized him, and he(Stallings), started telling me a story about their days at College Station. One of his gifts is his ability to connect with people. I think that is one of the reason he's such an icon and beloved by fans.
