Good luck to him. GBS is overcomable, but often results in deficits afterwards

My grandfather had it like 10 years ago. It was scary. No one knew what was going on.

Usually presents as some numbness or tingling in hands or chest and progresses into full blown paralysis, often involving ventilator support for breathing.

It's reversable, it is one of those things that just has to run it's course. Looks a lot like Lou Gerrhig's but isn't often fatal like Lou Gerrhig's

Not contractable, it just appears out of nowhere. Usually affects people in their 30's-40's the most

I heard someone speak on it once and there is some research that points to childhood immunizations being a possible pulprit but I am not sure if they found out for sure.

My uncle had it several years ago and it got all the way to the point to where he had to be on a ventilator to breath but from there just worked his way back. It kind of sucks to watch someone have to learn to walk again and do normal stuff. My uncle is perfectly fine now though so hopefully Danny gets through it fast.

Depends on what you call research. The "researchers" that claim this are to science like lynch mobs were to trial by jury.

Guillain Barre Syndrome is a scary disease probably caused by a genetically programmed immune response of a small number of people to some unknown trigger. Some people tried to blame it on vaccines for whatever reason, but follow up studies have shown no association.

Please don't believe people who tell you GBS is caused by vaccines. They have been deceived or are trying to deceive you.

Oh, sorry to be distracted on this, but prayers and best wishes to Wuerffel. For the majority of sufferers it is a disease they can completely recover from.

Are you a lawyer for an immunization drug mfg?

Kidding. I think immunizations have been targeted by everyone and their mother.

You aren't lying on that. Actually, I'm a doctor and I get bombarded by these kind of questions all the time so sorry if it gets under my skin.

While there are definitely some side effects of vaccines, the vast majority are benign and the bad reactions are rare (1 in hundreds of thousands). As of yet, GBS is not one of them.

On the other hand, there are a lot of posters on this board who would not be here without them. Or would not have the capacity to type on a keyboard.

It was a neurologist that was giving the lecture and I said that I was unsure as to the most recent findings. I was not stating that people should not take vaccines. That being said, the handful of cases we have seen clinically all recovered with minimal deficits.
