Looks like the coaching change has really hurt UT's chances with the guy the once considered a lock. Not saying he won't pick UT in the end but they definitely have competition now.

Says his top 6 are Arkansas, Memphis, Florida, Tennessee, UConn and Kentucky.

quote:

At Arkansas, they teach family and they have a history with Memphis guys. I’m just real close with their coaching staff and they’ve been recruiting me since 7th or 8th grade.

quote:

With Florida, I just like the tradition of big men that they’ve had like Udonis Haslem and Al Horford. They just have a winning tradition and I grew up watching those guys. It was big for me to be recruited by [head coach] Billy Donovan.

quote:

And at Tennessee, I was really high on them before [former head coach] Bruce Pearl got fired but the new coaching staff seems cool. Although, our relationship isn’t up to par like it is with the other coaching staffs which is kind of hurting their chances. They just really haven’t had as much time. They’ve been recruiting me since day one but they just got there.

He said that while he listed a top 6 only 3 of them have a great shot at landing him. Why he couldn't just name a top 3 is beyond me.

Does he know that there has been a coaching change at Arkansas?

Did Anderson have the same exact staff at Mizzou? Is that what he is referring to?

He's going to Memphis. - 100% take it to the bank, hold me to it, book mark, do not care.

Was a lock to UT before Pearl was fired.

Interesting, side note.

Keith Easterwood(AAU Bigshot) was on Memphis radio the other day, said Tennessee would have been a lock for a top 2 2012 recruiting class had Pearl not been fired.

Said only school that would have finished ahead of UT was Kentucky.

He means Anderson has been recruiting him forever. Yes, he has the exact same staff he had at Mizzou.

Mizzou was in his top 2 when Anderson was at Mizzou.

Yeah he is referring to while they were at Missouri.

He said in an interview back in April that he was real high on Missouri and while he liked Pelphrey, Arkansas didn't become one of his top choices until after Mike got the job and Pearl was fired.

Probably so. Tough to get kids out of Memphis these days but Anderson knows that is where we won our title at so he is going to be living down there again like he did in the Nolan days.

I'm sure Memphis will be using new ast coach Damon Stodamire and his NBA cred to help land recruits like Stokes.

Memphis won't sell Staudimire

they will sell recruits with cars, housing, and improper benefits. Same as they always have.

People might not agree with me here, but this is between Arkansas and Tennessee.

It's always been Memphis, TN, and wherever Mike Anderson has been.

All signs right now are pointing to Memphis.

Arkansas - He like Anderson

Tennessee - Brother goes to school here, Best friend is on the football team (Cam Clear), there was a Rivals article recently, that was about Cam Clear selling Tennessee to Stokes almost daily. Cuonzo Marting actually worked out Clear when he worked out Stokes.

Memphis - For whatever reason, they've blown up with him. He likes Pastner, home town pressure, Win one for his city mentality.

Memphis could potentially be starting.

1 - Joe Jackson - 5 star (Whitestation Highschool)
2 - Chris Crawford - 4 star (Sheffield Highschool)
3 - Adonis Thomas - 5 star (Melrose Highschool)
4 - Jarnell Stokes - 5 Star (Central Highschool)
5 - Tarik Black - 4 Star (Ridgeway Highschool)

That type of hometown flavor sells.

Touchdown,

I've always heard about Memphis and its "FedEx Program" for student athletes. You know any specifics about this rumor? Supposedly they would be "working" at the Hub for like 12 bucks an hour, but nobody would actually show up or work...Kinda like a student job that pays really well and you don't have to show up.

I like to think the improper benefits left with Cal, but we all know better.

I've heard those rumors, no proof but I don't have any reason to think they're not true.

Memphis' two biggest boosters are Fred Smith (CEO and Founder) and Alan Graf(CFO)

I do know one of the Calipari era basketball players, tweeted the other day about never paying for a thing during his time in Memphis. He was tweeting in response to the Pryor saga. - This was reported by Gary Parrish on his radio show.

It was taken down almost immediately.

Either Heath or Pelphrey might still have a job here if they had just manned up and recruited Memphis like every other Arkansas coach has in the past.

No question, he just knows how to cover his tracks..

Let me preface this by saying, there is no doubt in my mind that Pastner is a good guy.

He just learned how to coach from the best, and he knows what it takes to win.
