This is still dependent on him getting his academics in order. Rivals is just covering themselves in case something breaks on the situation.

how come Bama is getting more players this year with weak offer lists? Did they cut back on the $300,000 they spend on recruiting services?

Worked with Chris Carter in the Alabama camp this week and absolutely loved it. Has grade issues and is working on them.

Chris Carter really liked him
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere though, that Saban made it clear to him that he has to make the grades for the offer and commitment to stand. Don't know what that means if the kid fails after signing his LOI next Feb though.
From Bama Rivals:
quote:
Casey Gladney: "I really liked him a lot. There's a reason he got an offer. A really talented kid."

From Bama Rivals:
quote:
Gladney has work to do in the classroom with a source telling TideSports.com that “He is going to have to have a strong summer and an extremely strong senior year."
Amick said Saban discussed academics with Gladney.
“Coach Saban was honest with him about that,” Amick said. “He told him that if academics weren’t taken care of Alabama couldn’t take him.”

I've checked around and it seems the staff has now accepted his commitment. Strange the way that one played out, but I've been told they don't accept commits while prospects are still at camp.

Gladney commits to Alabama
By Phil Kornblut
Columbia High WR Casey Gladney (6-2 183) was offered by Alabama Tuesday at camp and committed after meeting with head coach Nick Saban. "They loved him coming in," said Columbia coach Kemper Amick who joined Gladney at the camp. "They had watched him on film. I tell you who loved, him and coached him all day, (former NFL receiver) Chris Carter. He said he reminded him of himself. Saban did a good job of going over what they do. I think it will be a good fit." Gladney also had offers from Tennessee, Kentucky and Cincinnati. Last season he had 49 catches for 865 yards and 11 touchdowns.
