"Coach Stallings, those were the longest three years of my life," he said. "One of the best decisions I ever made was coming to the University of Alabama. I think I can speak for all of my teammates from 2009 and the years before, he made us great men. He taught us how to work. That was a problem when I first got here, we lacked discipline." - Rolando McClain per ESPN

Agree about Shula, but Ro never practiced or played for Shula.

That really sux. Alabama was 10-0 in '05 under Shula. Great thigns were about to happen, but they didnt seal the deal against us Tigers in the seond-half of that game they lost in OT. They thought about it all week and came out flat against Auburn, they just didnt care. I still say he didnt get a very fair shake things could have been great.
At least he was better than the last 5 Alabama coaches.
I was at the game it was epic (the black guy with the purple afro and yellow shirt and tie if any remember) a sour day for Bama fans but still a gg!

Mike Shula is actually a really good QB coach. He did a wonderful job with David Gerrard in Jacksonville.

i've actually been to more jag games than i'm sure you've watched but no he did awfully. garrard can't read a defense or pick up a blitz to save his life...

Considering the amount of talent Gerrard seemingly has, I'd say he did a pretty damn good job.

Shula is one of the most well respected QB coaches in the NFL.

Yeah, but all of Shula's players were there, and that is obviously a huge factor as far as team discipline goes. It often takes more than 4 months to get players to buy into a system.
