I went today, certainly better weather than the spring game last year... The impression I got was that our starting defense should be pretty solid, esp the front seven. Robert Thomas is an inside pass rush we haven't had since at least Shep and even then it is different. Shep was a DE playing in the middle and his real pass rush threat was mostly speed based, Thomas provides serious power and push up the middle. This in turn makes it easier for the DEs to actually crash the pocket instead of just containing it.

Wilson looked OK, but made some "off" throws. I honestly would have never thought his stats were that good except it is what everyone is posting. To me it looked like the first team O had to push for every yard and the defense produced plenty of -1 to +2 yard plays and only had a couple of out right broken coverages I saw.

The most improved thing I personally saw in our defense was we didn't have to bring the house to generate pressure.

This has me excited, because we are just running a base defense this spring and they are holding their own.
