Where's the thrill in giving a player money...

From what I understand, most of the people that are giving the $500 handshakes are successful boosters/businessmen. I dont see the appeal in giving a player(whom you have no connection too) money for performance on the field. I also don't see how these businessmen would willingly give $1000s to a player already committed. These guys didn't get rich by being that careless with money.
Now if the cash was coming from a different source than their own pocket (i.e. School) then there is a new set of circumstances involved.
While I do look forward to being able to toss around cash feeling no consequence, I can guarantee you that I would do it to my personal family a friends.

To a lot of these people - college football is a big part of their life. They want their team to win and so they buy/take care of good players.

Seriously? If I were in their shoes, I would have a blast doing it. Imagine being an Auburn booster, and telling McClover, "1k for every time you sack Brodie". Come Saturday, you're sitting in your seat/suite/wherever, and you watch McClover take him down four times. I would be stoked.

I think they understand some of these kids don't have a pot to piss in and a few hundred dollars will never be missed by them. They already spend tens of thousands (and sometimes millions) centered on college football every year, so a few hundred or thousand more is no big deal.

If I was rich as shite I would make it rain all over them.

Nothing more fun than watching something or someone you've personally invested money in dominate.

One and done.
These folks want so badly to be part of the program, and they think buying players is fulfilling that role. Pretty pathetic, if you ask me.

I think I will give somone a 100 dollar handshake this year just to see how it feels. I'm gonna give it to WMFC at the Auburn game.

Pretty much. Unfortunately, they'll never be able to completely cleanse college football of people like this.

This
For some of them it makes them feel somewhat responsible for a positive outcome in the game

It's called 'being a part of the program.'
Erroneous, I know, but it is what it is. Ever notice that the folks giving out the dough really look like losers (with extra money)? Lowder, Young, Yellawood Dude,...

Power
Connection to the program
Some actually feel they're helping the kids
Lots of reasons.

Do you know a guy up around huntsville that has rock crawlers named mike? I cant remember his last name for shite, I always called him Hunstville Mike. HAHA
He used to have a Black Jeep similar to the one in your pic. It was a late 90's early 00's with extended wheelbase and had the back dovetailed down narrower to allow the wheels to flex further up. Had a sticker on the winshield that said something like Jeepingamerica.com or some shite.

I've given an exotic dancer (college student earning tuition) money once or twice. It was kinda fun
