Bammers who starts this upcoming season or who do you want to start?

The assumption among Alabama fans is that redshirt sophomore A.J. McCarron will make a natural transition into the position. After all, McCarron (6’4-190) completed 30 of 48 passes and three touchdowns in mop up duty for the Crimson Tide in 2010.

At times, most notably the game against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in October, McCarron showed he had all the tools of a future starting quarterback. However, on other occasions, the young quarterback showed signs of indecisiveness and a tendency to force passes into heavy coverage. In games against San Jose State and Georgia State, McCarron took most of the snaps in the second half.

Redshirt Freshman Phillip Sims (6’4-215) arrived in Tuscaloosa in January 2010, along with lofty expectations of his own. Knowing that Greg McElroy was entering his final season, Sims felt that the early arrival in Tuscaloosa would enhance his chances of replacing McElroy as the starter. Fans were immediately excited at Sims’ dual threat capabilities. Though he did not see game action in 2010 Sims was able to take snaps in practice. During practice for the Capital One Bowl, the amount of snaps Sims took in practice increased.

Sims is nowhere near 6'4" and McCarron is the man. The people who are lobbying for Sims are just retarded and I expect Alahunter to chime in pretty soon.

Don't care who starts, I think both have potential to be very good.
Best guess, AJ starts first game.

The bold part is why he is an overwhelming favorite for the starting job at Bama...

I mostly joke around with my comparisons of AJ to Aaron Rodgers+ Matt Ryan, but he really has potential to be a 1st RD QB.

Part of the hype surrounding Sims arrival in Tuscaloosa was his dual threat capability. Many compared him to Michael Vick when he was in high school in Virginia.
How can anyone take this article seriously?

Andrew Zow disagrees with you.

I think most prefer McCarron because he actually from Alabama and won a state Championship here. Sims is from Va and most don't know alot about him.
Also McCarron can through the long ball. The game Julio Had 221 yards McCarron laid the ball out so perfectly Julio. I think Julio would have been drafted before green if AJ had been his QB.

Nobody knows, and any prediction is just a guess. McCarron has a little experience, Sims has none so you'd automatically think McCarron.
I'm not so sure Saban has much confidence in McCarron. That said, I think McCarron will be the starter in the first game, but after that who knows.

That's true. Bama has never fielded a black QB.

I think they have had roughly 4 black starters in the last 20 years if memory serves.

It's not really that big of deal if they have one or not in my eyes. I can remember people trying to make it a "race battle" in BR when we had a QB battle between Booty & Davey.

What does that mean? You feel good since LSU started a black guy last year?
