Ole Miss was the most talented team in the West in 2008. Just take a look at OM's NFL guys from that time period compared to Bama's and it's not really close. LSU was reloading on talent at that time.

like i said earlier. you can win championships with a subpar QB if you have a lot of talent around him and dont turn the ball over. When LSU wins 10 games with a QB who has 20 interceptions Om might make it to Atlanta

Snead played well against Bama in 08 and OM still lost. The 09 game was total domination by Bama with the only thing keeping the score somewhat close being Bama's inability to convert inside the 10 yard line. Masoli in no shape or form would have won Ole Miss a West title in either of those years....not with 2 excellent Bama teams standing in the way.

snead had 20 INTs in 2008.

We turned the ball over enought without Sneads help in 08, the first half of the season anyway

Speaking of Quarterbacks at Ole Miss, I have heard from a pretty reliable source that Ole Miss will be getting a QB transferring there from West Virginia who is originally from Memphis. The person who told me this saw him play in HS in Memphis and claims he is the real deal, and could start at Ole Miss next year.
This is all second hand information, im sure you Ole Miss guys probably know more than me about this.

That 08 team developed into one of the scariest teams at the end of the season. We could have played and probably beaten anyone in that bowl game.

Yeah, Brunetti. I doubt he's the real deal though. I dont think he's very accurate, but we shall see. But I do know he has almost zero shot of starting next season. He may not even be eligible. He's applying for a hardship so he doesnt have to skip this season, and should get it due to moving closer to home since his mom is ill. But even if he is eligible, he will be coming the spring without taking a snap at OM and knowing zero plays, when we have one QB whose been in the system 3 years and another who beat out Cam for 1st team all american when he was a juco last year, who was redshirted and knows the system. Though, we are probably changing our system entirely so that may not play as big a role. Never the less, Im glad we are getting him, if we are, not because we need him this year or next year but to build dept and give us a good QB for '13

For real. After we pulled out a win @ ARK in 08, we beat the dog shite out of everyone else we played.

Who does Ole Miss have coming back at QB? I know that you guys are losing Masoli.
My buddy (who is an Ole Miss Alum and really follows recruiting) who told me about the West Virginia QB from Memphis acted as if he is good enough to start at Ole Miss next year, who else is there that is better than this kid?

Randall Mackey is their QB for 2011, dual threat guy from JUCO. He didn't have the grades out of HS at Bastrop, LA to go to a 4yr college.

we RS him this year so he should be ready for SEC play. Kid's electric with the football. He doesnt have sprinter speed, but is fast enough and is as quick as it gets, but he's not just a runner. He's actually a better passer than a runner. He has a stutter problem and cant call plays under stress. He also played in the shotgun all his life because of that, so there will definatly have to be some adjustments made for him. Brunetti should be decent for us some day, but I doubt he's ready for the SEC just yet.

You won't have one with Hootie.

This is interesting. Did Hodge not have 1000 last year? Not sure about Wallace the year before.

The only one I remember is Dexter running towards me headed in the endzone and fumbling.
This was actually a bad call by the officials. If you watch the highlight, Dex was down by contact.

absolutely ridiculous that HDN managed 8-4 out of that talent.
They went 0-8 in the SEC a year before Nutt had them. This revisionism is such bullshite. You can't turn an 0-8 team into SEC Champions overnight, no matter how fricking stellar of a coach you are and no matter how talented they are.

He owns the Ole Miss receiving yards record so, to the "HAHAH LOL POOSTON BUTT" crowd, suck my balls.

c'mon, the teaching 'em how to win thing is a nice way to spin it for people who have never played sports. if you're the better team, you simply win. that's how sports are. there is no 'teaching' on how to win.
with that much NFL talent it's inexcusable to drop games to WF, Vandy, and USCe that year. you win those three and make a late surge in Tuscaloossa and you are in ATL for the 1st time ever. now who knows when that day will come. that's the most talented team in decades of Ole Miss football and they lost four games and went to a Cotton Bowl.
As much as it burns my nostrils, NIH is completely right.
The 2008 team was one of our most talented, if not our most talented, team ever. With the load of NFL talent across the boardd you really could argue that it was in fact our best team.
I mean seriously, we fricking lose to Vandy @ home and don't look ready to play, we go to the swamp, catch some breaks but also played a hell of a game and win, then come BACK home and play like hot garbage vs SC.

Good post but any back who makes all SEC is a bit above average. Do agree that Nutt underachieved with the talent Orgeron left him.
