The most dominant player in the country that year was Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

If a defensive player has ever deserved to win it, it was Suh

Derrick Thomas.

The man had 27 sacks in a single SEASON, for 204 yards in losses. He would hold the NCAA record for sacks in a career (52) and season (27), except the NCAA didn't chart defensive stats until 2000 (can you believe that shite???)

Because of this glaring omission, Arizona State's Terrell Suggs holds the NCAA sacks records for a career (44) and single season (24).

Defensive players just aren't given their due.

I know I shouldn't say this as UT fan, but I think Charles Woodson was pretty deserving.
