We're treating a 9-3 season as if we had finished 5-7 and are calling it a rebuilding year. Most teams would call 6-6 or 7-5 a rebuilding year.

It sucks to be us but that's just how we roll.

I know. I look back at a few years ago, and I'm happy with the season we've had. I've really enjoyed watching our young defense develop throughout the season. They're going to be a force in a year or two.

Three of them were 10-win teams. The others were shitty. And, if you don't remember, Alabama fans weren't too happy about those teams either.

Dude, you're 23 years old. Quit acting like you lived the glory years of Bear or Stallings. The majority of your memories for Alabama include Dubose, Probation, Price and Shula.

if only winning 9 games makes you unhappy, get ready for lots of years of being unhappy following your favorite team.

I may not have seen the "glory years" in person but thanks to modern technology, I am able to watch the games at the Bryant Museum.

Edit: And the very first Alabama game I ever watched all the way through was the 1992 Iron Bowl on Thanksgiving Day. I caught the vast majority of Alabama games from that day on because, at a young age, I had a strong affinity for football.

I agree with this! After the lsu game to "me" the season was pretty much over.
IF your not playing for it all, why play at all

BTW, I've been around(watching) for the 40 years of Bama football, and when Coach Bryant was here, I along with most Bama fans and our coach felt the same way.imho

Considering that most of your offense including the heisman winner, qb, and most overated wr in the country returned I think your analogy sucks.

bs. it was a NC or bust year according to most Bama fans(and pundits) in the preseason. now you're calling it a "rebuilding season" just trying to save face.

If I was ranked preseason number 1 and then lost 3 games and finished 4th in my division I guess I'd make something like this up too.

Also, based on the below, this was an above average season for the modern day Crimson Tide. Eight of the previous thirteen seasons were worse.

1997 - 4-7
1998 - 7-5
2000 - 3-8
2001 - 7-5
2003 - 4-9
2004 - 6-6
2006 - 6-7
2007 - 6-7

Both sides have some good points...

As far as this year goes yes 9-3 is def below expectations. Sure you will get people coming out now saying I thought we would lose 2 or 3. Bottom line when your the #1 preseason team by just about everyone 9-3 is below expectations. I thought they would lose to s. carolina but never thought both lsu and auburn would beat the tide. Any bama fan calling this a rebuilding year is full of shite and in denial.

On the other side all the bama haters saying saban should give back money, does not deserve 4 mill a year etc are dead wrong as well. In 4 years the man has brought 2 unbeaten regular seasons, 2 sec west titles, 2 bcs games, as well as an sec title and national title. This to a program that had largely been irrelevant for the previous decade..

I am a huge bama fan but not blind.. Auburn gets the next 360 plus days to gloat Their team earned it. But going forward there is not one program I would rather be a fan of feel better about the state of the programs future then the tide. Under Saban bama is becoming like the new england patriots. The tide wont win the sec every year but they will be a threat too. The years of 6 or 7 wins are gone.

No sec team has won back to back titles since fat phil in 99. There is a reason for this. It's a damn strong league. This year was disappointing but I feel great about the future of Alabama football with coach nick saban.

And I think you suck dick because you failed to mention the fact that Alabama lost several All-Americans (Javier Arenas, Kareem Jackson, Rolando McClain, and Terrence Cody) from the defensive side of the football. And I also think you fail to realize that it all starts up front with the offensive line. We lost an All-American guard in Mike Johnson and an All-SEC selection in Drew Davis. Notice how we weren't able to run the football at all this year and I think one will come to the conclusion that skill players aren't everything.
