IMO he certainly is. The defenses in the SEC are too good and too fast to have someone back there that does not present any running threat. Having a guy like Newton is almost like having 2 offenses one team. You have the playbook and then you have him innovating when the play breaks down. As much as I like Mcelroy he has no option when he is pressured other than to get sacked or throw the ball away.

Guys like Newton don't come around very often. I wouldn't expect to see the SEC littered with fast 6'6", 250lb QBs that are exceptionally elusive.

There are plenty of dual-threat QBs and have been for years. Its not like he is some revolutionary QB we have never seen before.

Not many QB's have his arm strength and speed, though.

This mobile QB experiment is nothing new. A lot of teams have tried this and failed...Brent Schaffer, Kodi Burns, Larry Smith, Syvelle Newton, etc.

Lord, I hope not.. He's an amazing talent, but I sure as hell don't want Alabama to ever run that offense.

Which he never does. Whenever, McElroy faces the slighest bit of pressure, he takes off like he is Cam Newton. And Alabama doesn't need a Newton type QB. The offensive line usually gives McElroy plenty of time to at least throw the ball away. Alabama need a Ryan Mallett type QB or heck even a Matt Flynn would be a huge upgrade over what we have now.

Not sure if there are a lot of 6'6" 250 lb sub 4.6 40 QBs out there.

Now if you are talking about athletes that commit the criminal acts I think Tenn, Georgia, and Florida have that market cornered.

Sorry couldn't resist that one.

One hit on his knee and your whole season has change from chicken salad to chicken shite. It's like playing Russian Roulette.
