is going to get upset by southern miss? I just have this feeling that on the national stage the cocks are going to lay an egg building up the perception that supposedly the sec is a two man league this year. that is all.

What's come of all of the Hotelgate drama, etc. etc... Will they have anyone sitting out?

FWIW we haven't lost our season opener since Spurrier has gotten here. I think we'll be fine.

ETA: And last I heard the only player we could have sitting out is Saunders. I may have heard wrong though.

If they do I wonder how many visors Spurrier will break as a result.

I predict USC could have a very special year with everyone they have returning.

Because they are South Carolina and all you have ever seen from there is complete failure. It is hard to think anything positive when you associate a program with failure for as long as you have USC.

Coming off a national championship 1-2 months ago in baseball this is humerus.

I think it really hinges on Garcia this year for the Gamecocks

It would be a disaster for us to lose to Southern Miss. And it ain't happening.

I read somewhere that yalls pass D was awful last year, how improved will it be this year? USM has a high scoring offensive system similar to TT. Against solid teams they can't do shite, but against someone that might have some offensive hiccups and a weak secondary it could be trouble. I'm pumped to get the season started and glad it's an SEC team starting it off. USM hasn't played in a tough enviroment in awhile, that plus the fact it's the first game I predict a lot of false starts and momentum killers which should result in a 3 score victory. And don't worry about Garcia, southern will make him look fantastic

Don't where you got that from. Last year in the SEC, we ranked 2nd in pass defense, 5th in rush defense, and 3rd in total defense (5th in scoring defense). The weird thing is we only had 6 interceptions all season, so our pass defense efficiency was only 6th.

Everyone is back in the secondary except Darian Stewart. With a healthy defensive line, the pass rush and run defense should be really strong (despite losing Norwood), so USM is going to have some problems. The general feeling is that our defense will be better overall this year than last year.

Garcia may look fantastic -- I hope so -- but I also want to see how Conner Shaw does. Spurrier named Garcia and Shaw co-starters -- which is not a knock on Garcia, but a compliment to Shaw.
