I thought more was supposed to come out, or is it case closed now?

Investigation is still ongoing, but from what I've heard.

They have no survielance tapes, and people are having trouble identifying the culprits. Basically a defense lawyers dream, I wouldn't be surprised if no one else is charged.

so out of the 8 or 9 guys involved, how many do you think actually keep their noses clean from here on out? I'd say maybe 2 to 4, and I think Janzen Jackson does something monumentally stupid (guy just cant find himself in the right place at the right time). If this is essentially a case closed, UT coaches had better enforce some harsh rules, otherwise some shite is gonna happen again

I don't know, just found this posted four days ago. Sounds like it's just become the calm before the storm.

quote:

The investigation is expected to stretch into next week, and there will surely be more relevant information in the coming days. But even with what is known now, it is clear that decisive steps must be taken.

quote:

Charges will almost certainly be filed when the dust settled. Some could be felony counts. Assault and battery is an obvious possibility, but given the circumstances, could they extend beyond that? Attempted manslaughter perhaps? It would be amazing to see this issue resolved without someone going to jail, given the public nature of the fight and the severity of the injuries.

Still hard to tell at this point. Dozens of likely drunk witnesses makes for a fun time trying to sort everything out.

So if the lawyers of the players who end up getting charged get them out of it via Johnny Cochran style, is Dooley gonna let them come back? And if this thing drags on a bit, are they gonna get to play if it's not settled with the courts before the season starts.

When he left LSU high and dry on signing day it seemed like a dick move - but man did LSU dodge a bullet from the look of things

It wasn't by UT. Since the beginning Bar Knoxville has been outspoken against the UT football players. They also said the tapes had been down for two days. Based off my knowledge that is the sewer pit Bar Knoxville (and all those associated with...including our players), I speculate that the tapes were gotten rid of. Not by UT, but by the bar, so they could keep their liquor license. No license, no bar. And if there was enough underage consumption there, I assume that is a strong possibility.

Not defending the players, they are idiots as well. I just wish that cess pool of a bar was quickly burned to the ground.

There are so many conflicting reports on what happened....it sounds like this may be the end of it. Guess that's the problem when all the witnesses were drunk & the bar has no security video.

In the end, probably still DB Myles gone, DT Walls & LB King indefinitely suspended.

That's what it sounds like...

Head over to the Memphis Tigers board. They've had new threads everyday about the incident that lambast our thugs. Oddly enough it will be accompanied by three threads on why King and Walls should transfer to Memphis to get away from the Thug element.

Yes I just find it shocking that the two guys who supposedly started the brawl are both from Memphis.

What about the VIP's for players?

It wasn't a priviledge reserved strictly for football players.

Nothing will happen...every woman is "VIP" and the bar has a list of VIP's, basically employee's friends, so there is a large group of people who get in for free every night.

I want to know why the bar owner hasn't been arrested and the bar shut down. It seems like every person in that bar was underage

C'mon, college guys fight, it's not something to kick 'em off over. A game suspension is enough.

I know they should be smart enough to know better but if others you a player won't fight cause they play football you know how many little frat bitches are going to take that for what it's worth. Every now and then you hafta knock one of 'em the frick out.

They apparently give "VIP passes" to all kinds of college kids, not just athletes, so it's not really a benefit that was extended to them because of their athlete status.

UT is self-reporting it though. Secondary violation at the absolute worst.

A few players didn't have to pay the bar's cover charge, were you expecting the death penalty?

It's an 18+ bar. That's why I question the video surveillance being gone. Even with breathalyzers, they still have to know it came from the bar.

Again, I'm not trying to make a big point of this, because the big point should still be whether or not players kicked a man while he was down. But the world would be a better place with no Bar Knoxville.

Thanks. I thought the fact that the athletes had to sign in as a VIP rather than show their student ID would have been a sticking point.

I understand the premise but don't REALLY see the merit anyway.
