No that's capitalism. He has a commodity that is in high demand, why not get paid for it.

It's early. I'm laying in bed with the computer and I actually typed 34-13...then changed it, and I'm still wrong. FML

Not really. It may be hat doing so is an attempt to limit the number of people who would get the autograph with such an inscription and then turn around and sell it to make money off the deal.

I know that when I was somewhat acive in the collectables market in the mid-late 90s a lot of people were insisting on signing all things personalized, because the thinking was that an item autographed "To Bill..." wouldn't be as desirable on the market - unless of course someone else named Bill wanted the piece.

There have also been athletes that refuse to sign certain types of items. Mantle would sign everything but bats - story was that he had a number of bats he had autographed and planned to leave to his heirs and didn't want to dilute the market for those once he was gone. Hank Aaron will not sign game used baseballs, due to the fact that the person who has possession of HR 714 (Hank didn't know that it was that particular ball) got it signed at a show and then turned around and sold it for a huge premium.

He wants to get paid for autographs; fine, no problem.

That is a nickel and dime tactic.....God Bless is "free", but Heisman will cost you an extra 25 bucks. What's next, he'll say Hello, but any add'l words are 2 bucks a piece?

If ppl are stupid enough to buy it, he would be stupid not to sell it.

By that logic, sell anything as long as it's legal. Some people set higher standards.

The issue is standards, not where to ply the trade.

Could be the shop hosting the event sets the policies and Tebow gets a flat fee + percentage of the receipts for his foundation. Either way, big deal, more power to him. NFL careers don't exactly have a very long life expectancy. Get paid while you can.

I think it's the fact that its Saint Tebow who's doing this shite. Everyone acts like he's such a great guy and he does no wrong blah blah blah...yet he's charging people $25 for scribbling some crap like that?

He may have the rest of you fooled but I never bought into his boyscout bullshite.

Everyone knows he has legions of cocksucking fans that will pay it...but he's supposed to be of superior moral fiber, and above ripping people off. The truth is, deep down, everyone's just out to turn a quick buck.
