If the Pac-16 thing happens the SEC should do this:
SEC West:
LSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Miss State
Kentucky
Alabama
Auburn
Florida State
SEC East:
Tennessee
Georgia
Florida
Vandy
South Carolina
Duke
North Carolina
Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech is already good in football, North Carolina's football program is steadily improving and the SEC would instantly become the strongest basketball conference. Imagine regular games in the PMAC against Duke and North Carolina. LSU and Florida State are only about 6-7 hours apart - makes for an easy road trip in football.
Also, this provides potential SEC championship games between big rivalries like: Florida vs FSU in football, Kentucky vs North Carolina or Duke in basketball.

Pick up Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and one other.
How would that basketball contract look ?

TX Legislature will not approve any move without TX Tech, TX A&M, UTX as a package deal.
That is the talk in Houston anyway. More people are interested in Pac 10 alliance on Houston radio.

Add Tulane and USM (since they want it so bad) to the West and Clemson and Florida St. to the East.
Being a selfish Ole Miss guy, I don't like the notion of our people having to travel to College Station or to Austin.

its sweet, indeed.
And it adds three states to the TV market.
over 40 million people.
Tex is 25. NC is 8 or 10. Va is 7 or 9.
NC was #1 in the USA this past year, for the over all title of best program, beating out Stanford for the first time in 18 years.
Tex is usually in the top few, too.
Both are high end academics.
now, go ahead and negotiate that.

This first I posted on another thread like this last week;
I honestly feel that Texas is hoping to keep everything the way it is and not go anywhere. I believe when it comes to push and shove they will end up in the SEC because it makes the most since with travel.
I BELIEVE IF IT HAPPENS THE SEC WILL GET:
TO THE WEST
TEXAS
OKLAHOMA
TO THE EAST
FLA. STATE
MIAMI
I would like us get UNC but I do not think that will happen because I think the ACC will pick up half of the big East teams and keep their basketball conference first league together. I think they will get
Syracuse, Rutgers, Pittsburg, West Virginia, Louisville and South Florida.
There could be something else in the works also the SEC might loose Kentucky to the ACC and pick up either Georgia Tech or Oklahoma St. maybe both and Vandy might leave also and go to the ACC. There are a lot of options that could be considered and the schools involved will have to do what is best for them. JMHO!
Now there is something new in the works with the teams from Texas going to the Pac-10 and if that happens that will leave the two Oklahoma schools coming to the West Oklahoma and Oaky St. and that would work out ok also but will hurt us in recruiting so I do not want to see that happen.

i happen to like the conferences thought up by the espn writers. the ones named after famed cfb coaches. they seem fair/balanced and geographically fair.

I think the most likely raid of teams would come from the Big East, and not the ACC. There is no real reason for any of the ACC teams to bolt. They are locked in to the BCS as much as anyone, and they kick arse in basketball. If the Big Ten grabs Missouri and Nebraska from the Big 12, and Pitt, Syracuse and Rutgers from the BE, those conferences will fall apart and a mad dash will ensue. The ACC will likely try to grab four of the remaining BE teams (Louisville, Cincinnati, WVU, South Florida or UConn, leaving the likely additions to the SEC, if there are any, to come from the Big 12 (most likely UT, A&M, OU and OSU). That would leave the SEC looking like this:
WEST
-------
Oklahoma
Ok State
Texas
Texas A&M
Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss
State
EAST
-------
Bama
Auburn
Vandy
Tenn
Kentucky

The Houston market would have to be tapped to increase the TV contracts for the SEC so Texas A&M and/or Houston would have to be included in any expansion talks.

Rice is a match for Vandy. Please GFY about what they "bring". Arky and USC were crap when they were added. Houston market is a good one, boost a lil academics too.
