On 4-15-89 does anyone remember the LSU/Mississippi State doubleheader where LSU allowed the fans to sit down the foul lines on the field in Alex Box because of the overflow crowd?
I think both Polk and Bertman agreed to allow it. I couldn't find pics of it, but that's something I'll always remember.

Before my time, but I don't doubt it at all.

the 80's were the heyday for Mississippi State baseball.

I watched some games in The Box when State traveled there in 1985. Mississippi State entered the series undefeated and #1 in the country, but lost 2 out of 3 to LSU that weekend. Great atmosphere, even back then.

Didn't State win the SEC tournament that year?

Yep, they did. When I was Googling to try to confirm the MSU-LSU series, I saw that MSU did win the SEC tourney that season and therefore, the SEC. I believe that was during the years that the SEC Tourney winner was named "SEC Champion" and there was no championship awarded for having the best conference record during the season.

Before my time too but sounds like it would've been an awesome game to see.

I believe that changed with expansion in 1992.

LSU and MSU used to have a good baseball rivalry, hope it gets to that again soon.

You are correct. I believe LSU was a game, maybe 2, better than us in the SEC that year.
